Official CU vs. Kansas Game Thread 11/23/24

I am pissed that we have lost to all our BIG 8 Brethren that we were scheduled against
Oklahoma
Nebraska - LOSS
Iowa State
Missouri
Kansas - LOSS
Kansas State - LOSS
Oklahoma State - ????????
That sucks donkey schlongs

Well, that sucked. But I'm not going to spend time getting upset about it giving how far this team has come. I would have been thrilled with 7-5 and a mediocre bowl before the season, so this is all just gravy. If we can finish the regular season 9-3 and then win our first bowl in 20 years, that will be a massive success.

Oh yeah! My bad. I forgot the stark difference there was from any other game this season
not sure if you're sarcastic, but if you aren't, in every other game this year we hit long passes down the middle. i didnt see any of those in this game ... i dont see the all 11 film, so maybe that wasnt available, but wacthing on TV i didnt see lajohntay or travis targeted downfield or any pushes at sheppard the whole game. the throw to drelon for the TD was immaculate and the throw to travis on the first drive (obvious and clear DPI) were both positive plays. just not sure why we didnt do that more often

Thing is, we have the personnel to be much better than we were against that team, even with poor tackling. You don’t give up 331 yards rushing strictly because of poor tackling. This was a Livingston scheme issue today. KU found something and he wasn’t able to adjust.
I lot of run blitzes. And he stayed with it.

Our success was predicated on the defense being salty against the run and the offense running enough to keep the opponent honest. We could not stop the run. Tackles were missed. DL got blown up. Their OL was allowed to hold.

In the end, this loss was about the lack of execution. The D just couldn’t get their sh!t together no matter how well positioned they were.

We've been throwing a ton of screens the last 4-5 games because the defenses aren't giving us deep passes. I agree we dont attack the middle of the field nearly enough.

What I can’t figure out is that we have this qb that is supposed to go at the top of the draft. A top of the draft WR. Two other WRs that should be drafted.

But our qb is running around back there for 10 seconds like a chicken with his head cut off. Are these NFL WR not getting open? Is the NFL qb not seeing them? Someone help me because it has been my long running question that came home to roost tonight.

The slow start on both sides of the ball (or three sides, our special teams weren't good either early) allowed them to dictate the game. Took us out of our game and let them be what they are comfortable as.

Part of this is SS2. He is very careful with his passes, sometimes too careful which causes these excruciating passing situations.

this sucks to say, but SS doesn't do the basics well. i said this on this board during the Stanford game last year. but he doesn't properly sell ball fakes and acts like he doesn't need to play the chess game. watching georgia last week (and I don't watch much college fb) their qb was doing fakes and quick rollouts to make easy receptions. SS never gets simple plays unless it is in the screen game. That makes me wonder if he will be so much better in a schemed pro offense.

Teams are dropping 7 and 8 into coverage knowing you can't run the football

seriously, a legit fake handoff and a lajohntay or travis underneath cross would be so much more devastating than a 3 count screen where the receiver is moving away from the line of scrimmage when he catches the ball. move your weapons across the field or towards the end zone

He does the basics well, he just doesn't sell the playaction or RPOs well at all. That's something he has to work on for the NFL. Playaction and RPOs are it's own skill. One where he's lacking
