Other Games 10/29 - 11/2 Buffs bye week.

Is duke showing up or is Miami doing what they’ve done all season and barely beat teams because they aren’t that much better than the rest of the ACC. Credit to them for winning all the close games, but they just aren’t the #5 team in the country imo
and the refs have been helping the u as usual

Maybe slightly but far from egregious. But I'll say it's quite possible he said something to the receiver that the ref heard
The dictate in the rules at the college level is that if in doubt it is taunting.. We have seen it in games all over the country, and yes the refs might have heard something that didn't get picked up on TV.

May also have been a continuation of an exchange between players where the refs told them the next one to open their mouths gets a flag.

Not unlike certain mods on this board with puns.

When they call the taunting and throw the flag in these cases it doesn't have to be much so the fans think it is ticky tack without seeing the context.

Both.

I mean, Duke is 6-2, they're better than the logo on their helmets would have you believe.

Every team that has been in the top 5 has looked weak at times against mediocre opponents.

I'm not all that impressed by PSU or OSU. Both teams are great where they're great, but significantly flawed. Our Buffs would have a reasonable chance at beating either of them.

Is a tOSU loss better for our playoff chances? They've got an L and PSU doesn't......I think PSU and Oregon are going to the playoff personally given what they both have left.
OSU finishes with Indiana and Michigan. There's a decent chance they earn a 3rd loss if PSU wins today.

If you step over somebody, it’s taunting. No matter previous history, what you might have said, etc.

If tOSU loses today but wins out I'm still not sure they'd be in the playoff because they'd only have 1 win over a ranked opponent (IU), assuming Michigan doesn't finish strong. And a lot will depend on what other at-large candidates are sitting out there with 1 or 2 losses and their respective schedules look like.

If they finish 10-2 with losses to PSU and Oregon, they're in IMO.

Indiana would miss in that case.

There are usually about a dozen P4 teams with 2 or fewer losses by the end of the season. A 1-loss Ohio State is a stone cold lock to make a 12-team CFB playoff.

My scenario was tOSU having 2 losses. But yes a 1-loss tOSU is a lock but that scenario wouldn't be a decision because that would mean they win the B1G and would get the auto-bid

That has been consistent. I was just commenting in general.

The different levels call things differently. The NFL will fine a guy for not having his socks up but will let sticking the ball in an opponents face and yelling at him go. College game is much more sensitive and calls a lot of things taunting that in the NFL or other sports wouldn't be even bothered with.

I've seen the play in question not called. The defenders was moving partially over the tackled player at an angle who kind of forced the issue by moving more into his path.

Not a horrible call on re-watch, but in the moment it seemed like a case to keep the flag in your pocket.

Most people really like Gus. I don’t understand why people are bothered by his enthusiasm lol
Just not my cup of tea.

It just feels entirely contrived and over the top.

If he was a baseball announcer, he'd have a screaming signature call for bases empty singles on soft liners over the shortstop's head.
