Harvard is playing Penn right now.

For having a bunch of smart kids on their team, Harvard is making a lot of stupid mistakes.

But then again, Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard, and he throws stupid passes all the time.

Dantonio has never been able to get his pick of players even when Michigan and tOSU were sucking. He built that team the old fashioned way by finding good players, and developing them. Those two above won the annual recruiting ratings sweepstakes and then he won in the actual football games.

Something else is up. Maybe lost too much from last year and missing some leadership? Losing his DC should not have been such an impact, given that Dantonio is a defensive guru. I'm guessing there's something else up with this team. Bad QB play, turnovers, poor team leadership? I'd bet the stats would bare it out. A lot of great coaches have had a bad season after a great season, which last year was for them.

Certainly an interesting case study.

In terms of JMFL and HCMM, I've made that argument. But then look no further than Stoops at OU struggling without Venables. HCMM is a defensive guy, but it's not like he can run that side of the ball and the program. He'd need a solid DC to step in, while retaining most other assistants I'd think.

It's easy to win with developmental players when Ohio state and Michigan are down though is the bigger point. Have fun beating them with those same guys when they are rolling.

Losing assistant coaches to head positions is almost always going to hurt. Meyer struggled to replace strong, Mullen and Herman. It can rebound after a little but but almost always takes a step back. Seems like with dantonio, he is having a little a down year like ucla where everything that can go wrong does. His teams had always won close games and this year they aren't.

MIke Stoops has always seemed like a Grade A jerkoff to me but to be fair....OU was pretty good on D last season (for a Big XII team). that said, I always thought Venables was a good coach and seemed like an integrity guy who was a good coach to play for. just sayin....

The much hoped-for **** bailer humiliation is off to a good start ... Land Thieves sustain an early drive and go up 7-0.

Mike S is a jerk. I get it when a coach needs to get in a players face but he took it to an unreal level. He's in the booth this year.

The Stoopsies had really good defenses at the beginning in Norman. Mike left for Tucson and BV took over. Defenses started going downhill. BV leaves and Mike returns. The defenses get worse.

The one constant in all this? Big game Bob.

Venables is being held accountable for his unit. Perform or be replaced, and he's responded. Mike on the other hand has job security no matter what, and it shows.

I can agree with this except the UCLA part. Mora has had them on a poor trajectory each year. Mora is not a good HC. When WSU, Utah and now Colorado are beating you with the kids we've recruited, you flat out suck as a coach. I don't want to hear about injuries either. Their 3rd string was more highly recruited than all but a few of the 3 teams above. He just plain sucks.

Where's the week 11 hate thread? **** bailer trying to get me to root for them over OU, but I just can't do it.

I started to do one, but I deleted it after taking a look at the schedule. At this point, it doesn't seem to be worth the work since things have settled into the obvious at this point in the season: **** USC to give us some breathing room, **** Cal because we want GameDay for the Wazzu game next week, **** bailer but if they're going to win another game it may as well do us a solid by taking down Oklahoma, **** every ranked team except Michigan since them winning convincingly makes us look good, **** Tennessee and Butch Jones + **** Florida and Sparkles - an SEC East champ with 4 or 5 losses would be hilarious, **** Oregon, **** Nebraska, **** Notre Dame. And even though them winning helps CU's strength of record, **** CSU and may the Zoomies silence the Lambs for the 7th straight time in Colorado Springs.

*****ing Baylor.

Down 21-0 they have the ball inside the 3 with the option of going on fourth down and maybe pulling within two scores. Instead there is some pushing and shoving and a Baylor lineman hits a Sooner in the face for a personal foul moving it back to the 17 and a meaningless FG.

In most conferences by the way he probably would have been thrown out of the game, it looked a lot like a punch.

This Oklahoma team has the talent to be in the playoff.

Somehow despite his talent Stoops is never quite good enough.

disagree. they are bad against a real front 7. their D is bad. OU is a 7-14 type team at best. i think they lose at WVU.

the mixon/perine/mayfield/westbrook thing could be freaky but nebraska never won a MNC with gill/rozier/craig/rathman/fryer.
