VERY cold.Next weekend is supposed to be quite cold unfortunately
Not a fan, but it doesn't matter what I like I predict he will make a lot of changes, some will be hard to palate, some will be AWESOME and we will be wondering why we didn't do them sooner. The blue hairs will grumble and curse...and then cheer. My only humble request is that he keeps the BLACKI expect the chrome lids soon
VERY cold.
SameThe joy of Coach Prime is his disruption.
Let him disrupt.
Some mention that they want to keep the "timid or the weak" quote, but if we're being honest, that has only been a popcorn saying for a long time. Nobody in the football program, the AD and certainly nobody in the administration has taken that quote to heart over the last 15-20 years and actually tried to uphold it. Most of this stuff are skeletons of a 30+ year old era that have been shoved down the throats of people who had nothing to do with it, and the two HCs who did were the two worst coaches in this program's history. The mistake many CU fans make is in thinking it's the specific Mac tactics that have to be maintained. It's a different era. Vision and strategy may be the same in many cases, but the tactical specifics of getting us there evolve.
It's hard for that quote to have any weight after almost 20 years of being weak. Some mention that they want to keep the "timid or the weak" quote, but if we're being honest, that has only been a popcorn saying for a long time. Agree, Ralphie is the one untouchable.I had a similar thought pattern when it was being rumored that HCP was going to be hired. A little context...
Some of the biggest things that we consider to be untouchable traditions around here, were developed by Bill McCartney: No red allowed in the building (brought here from Michigan). Nebraska game in red letters (brought here from Michigan). "The Pride and Tradition of the Colorado Buffaloes will not be Entrusted to the Timid or the Weak" (brought here from Michigan). Are these really our traditions, or things that we are protective of because they represent the only time we were nationally relevant during our lifetime? Barnett was a Mac guy so he continued them. Hawkins threw it all out the window, and was lynched for it because we sucked. Embree was hired to bring it back, thinking these traditions would make us successful again. They have largely been untouchable since then.
I am certainly not advocating doing away with them, BUT...HCP can do what ever the **** he wants as far as I am concerned...Just don't touch: Running out behind Ralphie, Sal, Rahsaan Salaam. So long as he wins, new traditions will come from it and no one will GAF.
I like octopeeps.Octopus...octopussies?
I know this will be unpopular, but the example that comes to mind for me is the complete ban on red- it strikes me as archaic. The mistake many CU fans make is in thinking it's the specific Mac tactics that have to be maintained. It's a different era. Vision and strategy may be the same in many cases, but the tactical specifics of getting us there evolve.
It's living in the past, who we used to be and who they used to be. All of which is meaningless to the kids we are recruiting (and frankly the coaches who are recruiting and coaching them.)I know this will be unpopular, but the example that comes to mind for me is the complete ban on red- it strikes me as archaic.
For starters, I can't imagine a color ban would be popular with recruits. Secondly, it strikes me as a little sad- the original motivation was to set our sights on nubs as the program we wanted to tear down. Our goals are considerably higher than defeating nubs now. Finally, I hate those mother ****ers more than anyone else, but we haven't even been in the same conference since current recruits were in kindergarten.
First mistake of the new staff. Never, ever use red.
I have a feeling Coach Prime will turn cold weather into a positive. As long as the sun's shining and it's not windy, it's very easy to manage.
Ron Burgundy? Well done.I just want to clarify. My Subaru is burgundy!
Easy fix.Next weekend is supposed to be quite cold unfortunately
I would have thought they had a dress code back in the 1920's.A lot of kids from moderate to hot climates actually love the climate here. And what kid ever doesn’t love snow? I mean, I hate it. But I’m old and my circulation sucks. But my kids went to school in shorts when it was in the 20’s.
More importantly - a lot of NFL teams have outdoor stadiums in cold weather climates and they make draft decisions on whether a player has shown he can handle it. This is their home field advantage when making a playoff push or hosting a playoff game. It can impact your draft position if you have playmaking in a cold, windy day on your resume.Easy fix.
Just need to tell recruits that when we get you to the next level are you gonna have a problem playing in Buffalo, Green Bay, Chicago, etc?
Get used to it now and man the F up.
I held my kids out of elementary school until they were in their forties.I would have thought they had a dress code back in the 1920's.
The other thing they miss is that coach Mac came in and changed everything. He was disruptive in the way coach Prime is because what was there previously wasn’t working. The mistake many CU fans make is in thinking it's the specific Mac tactics that have to be maintained. It's a different era. Vision and strategy may be the same in many cases, but the tactical specifics of getting us there evolve.
Exactly and couldn't agree more.
A couple posters on 247 were lamenting the idea that Prime is going to "swag out" the uniforms at some point, and one said that he "had to earn the right to change our uniform traditions". I quickly pointed out, the only constant with CU's uniforms throughout its history has been change, both to the color and design and acting like we are in the same class as programs with Texas, Alabama, USC, etc when it comes to never changing the classic design or look is ridiculous.
I liked these, and they were obviously a modern tribute to the glory years, but I think you and others who want this should probably come to terms with the fact that they are probably going to be closer to the Oregon style than this
This and the reverse white version are the only jerseys CU will ever need. They are perfect.
He should have 100% power to change them however he sees fit. But you know, I’d love it if we could always find our way ‘home’ to the OG unis.I liked these, and they were obviously a modern tribute to the glory years, but I think you and others who want this should probably come to terms with the fact that they are probably going to be closer to the Oregon style than this
