You're not giving your ****ty previews enough peanuts.
I'm trying to put my finger on what the difference between them as rookies and SS might be.Hell, look at Elway, Montana, Marino, and several others. They all had that trait.
That, I don't know. All I do know is the ones I mentioned knew damn well they would be great. Shedeur should play with a chip on his shoulder. He doesn't have to say jack shvt publicly. Just use it as fuel.I'm trying to put my finger on what the difference between them as rookies and SS might be.
A bit disturbing that SS is getting—by far—the fewest reps, even including Flacco, who doesn’t really need reps at this point pre-summer.Shedeur being Shedeur in OTA's todayMeanwhile, do not run the White Pickett Fence

you can't tell that from those stats. He may have longer completions for TD's or just being more efficient.A bit disturbing that SS is getting—by far—the fewest reps, even including Flacco, who doesn’t really need reps at this point pre-summer.
The Browns are going to have no choice. He has to play well in preseason. If he does the Browns would have basically no choice but to play him
Or, and just hear me out, they know what they've got in Shedeur and don't need to see anymore...thats one way to spin itThe low reps is the biggest takeaway from day one. Clearly Shedeur is starting out buried on the depth chart and the head coach is going to give every chance for Gabriel to win the job as the primary young QB on the roster. It was reported that there was no left side of the OL when Shedeur was taking snaps. That’s how far he’s buried.

It’s the first day of OTAs, they have a four way QB competition and he was their 5th round pick. They are giving Pickett an opportunity to see if he’s the vet they can keep for Camp. Gabriel was their higher pick and they know what Flacco brings. Shedeur will get his opportunity with the “1s”Not getting reps needs to change.
The way the draft went would be my exhibit A to counter the assertion in your last sentence. It’s the first day of OTAs, they have a four way QB competition and he was their 5th round pick. This is not a normal 5th round QB selection regardless of what any NFL apologists want people to believe. The way the draft went would be my exhibit A to counter the assertion in your last sentence.
Almost no 5th round drafted qb gets ameaningful opportunities with the 1s. They generally are lucky to get extended preseason game time with the 2s, and it's pretty much assumed that they're going to be fighting to make the practice squad.
That's pretty much the only thing can count on: enough reps with other developmental players for the coaches to decide if they want to put them on the practice squad. Nothing more than that should ever just be assumed, almost regardless of what else is going on with other QBs on the roster.
That doesn't mean that the NFL apologists aren't going to be able to "justify" him never getting the chance to play with the 1s (or even the 2s).This is not a normal 5th round QB selection regardless of what any NFL apologists want people to believe.
Klatt expressed a theory that Shedeur slipped because if you didn't bring him in to be your starter he's too much of a distraction to be your backup. Compared it to guys like Tebow and Kaepernick who were clearly better than the other QB2s in the League but didn't have opportunities. Teams don't want the story to be the backup QB with the media asking about him whenever anyone on the team or in the organization is interviewed. That doesn't mean that the NFL apologists aren't going to be able to "justify" him never getting the chance to play with the 1s (or even the 2s).
And if they can, fairly easily within their assumption set, justify that - I think there is a legitimately real chance it does in fact end up happening.
It may not, but I don't think the possibility can be simply dismissed.
I mean, if this was February and someone said that he wouldn't be drafted until the 5th round, you would have dismissed that as ridiculous and "never going to happen.*"
Yet here we are.
*In fairness, had the discussion happened, you may have caveated a freak injury.
So far he is saying all the right thingsKlatt expressed a theory that Shedeur slipped because if you didn't bring him in to be your starter he's too much of a distraction to be your backup. I think there's a lot to that.
The question is going to be whether he is able to overcome the bruised egos of all the Browns front office and coaches who didn't want him, elt forced into the pick, and really don't want to deal with themselves and anything to do with the team being a footnote to a Shedeur story. He's got to make it clear that he's a franchise QB who will be the difference in winning or losing. Otherwise, they'll see him as a problem they need to get rid of.
Some will say the highlight of the Tebow era was the improbable playoff win over Pittsburgh. But for me it was the Friar Tuck haircut.I was in a pub having lunch when they drafted tebow. I shouted no at the top of my lungs and an important part of my boyhood fandom of the broncos died right there.
