I assume the proximity to Texas and joining the SEC will keep them at a big time program level, but is there any chance that program permanently takes a step back to a lower tier? Not to the extent ****braska has, necessarily, but maybe just more of a tier two kind of program?
They’ve just had Stoops and Riley for 22 years to continue the momentum, and I’m just wondering if Norman, OK is a place where blue chip kids are still going to want to be, ala Lincoln, NE
Yeah, posted above, that was the only name I could think ofVenables
Their stadium is fine, lots of premium seating that brings in money and they did fit almost 90k in there before. They're top 10 in overall revenue, have the booster support and can be considered a Texas school for recruiting purposes. I think they'll be just fine.
The biggest "flaw" probably is that their stadium is on the smaller side by SEC standards with "just" 80k.
Nebraska had/has pretty much everything you listed except “considered a Texas school for recruiting”. I still feel like they’ll have to nail the hire. As we are seeing, OU recruits are committing to Riley, not OU.They're top 10 in overall revenue, have the booster support and can be considered a Texas school for recruiting purposes. Conference championships will be extremely important in the the new CFP. I think we will see ND join the ACC. I believe that there will be less room for independents. IMHO
Only P5 champions will get an auto bid (if that’s a thing). Brand name independents will have a seat at the table because they bring eyeballs. Unless and until the ACC has a real TV deal, there’s not a great incentive for ND to join, especially when they can have their cake and eat it too.
You’re probably right. We’ll see which recruits stay on with OU and which go to SC or elsewhere. But don't you think it's a rather big factor to be one of the top three schools "in Texas"?
I am also not sure whether you can say OU recruits are committing to Riley or whether it's SoCal OU recruits who are committing to Riley. Texas is, has been and will be their bread and butter and I think the OU brand factor will ensure they're just fine there.
I would argue that OKC is a lot better of a market than Lincoln and that doesn’t even take into account their presence in the best football market in the country with Dallas.****braska had/has pretty much everything you listed except “considered a Texas school for recruiting”. I would actually go by cities. Dallas, houston, LA, Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans should be looked at as the best spots to recruit.BTW, how would you rank the top 5 recruiting states? Is Texas, California and Florida still the unquestioned top three?
I know Riley is planning on bringing Alex Grinch along as his DC. Any chance OU offers Grinch the HC job? People seem to think he's on track to get a look for a HC job soon. Not saying that OU is a bad job or anything, because it is not, but I am unable to think of a good fit for them right now. It does seem like a weird job

That would be a pretty uninspiring move for the fanbase.I know Riley is planning on bringing Alex Grinch along as his DC. Any chance OU offers Grinch the HC job? People seem to think he's on track to get a look for a HC job soon.
I know. I'm asking if anyone thinks that OU would consider Grinch for the HC job.He is on the plane with him to LA.

OU losing Riley just before the move to the SEC could be extremely damaging.

Grinch isn't considered to be much of a recruiter. That will be a problem for him getting any P5 HC job, let alone OU.
Don't tease me.Looks like Campbell is playing UW for a raise at ISU and that UW will announce the hiring of KD as their new HC tomorrow.
