This Can Happen

Served buffet style, though, right? I have to imagine they can go back for more chicken or asparagus or mashed potatoes in that scenario if they want. If not, then yikes, but I would imagine this would be a far bigger issue than it is if players weren't being fed enough. The specific menu items or taste I can fully believe, unless they are taking food to-go, I have to believe they have access to as much of it as they want. Otherwise, the general student population is eating better than they are.
I don't think it was buffet style but I could be wrong on that part. I think they would have mentioned it if it was.

Back in the day, I remember my friends coming back comatose stuffed from training table. I can't wrap my head around some sort of low cal diet for the players. Then again, this is 21st century CU athletics, and we've done dumber stuff.

When it's combined for all sports, it has to also have more options. If the same food options and portions are offered to a female XC runner as a football OL, I don't think it takes an expert in food science to realize that would be fvcking stupid, lazy and going on the cheap.

Really not worth getting riled up over, from my experience and pov anyway. There’s always going to be some whining, no they’re not getting fed like XC girls

There are a thousand other issues that need our focused attention and emails/pressure dedicated toward.

Maybe, but boy am I hungry now.

Knew a guy who played for aTm back in the 60’s. He was one of their first black players. He invited a fellow student to the dinner table. It was buffet style. When they began there was a bowl of vitamins for the players. JT grabbed one and his friend asked, “JT, what are you taking that for?” JT said, “They are vitamins the coaches want us to take.” His friend, a veterinarian student, said, “Umm, JT. Those aren’t vitamins. Those are animal growth hormones.” JT had noticed he was getting bigger.

Jealous.

On a related note, did I ever tell you I worked at an Indian restaurant?

They were really secretive about their spice blend. Before they'd let me in the kitchen, I had to sign their standard naan disclosure agreement.
Quit Rogan Joshin' around!

UCLA’s food is gross mismanagement and should NOT be used as an example.

Portions are different.

She should focus on the transfer rules and NIL. Way more important. We’re just looking for extra reasons to complain when we already have plenty

Yeah, UCLA is not the standard, and I also agree this shouldn’t be a focus, but it’s also a fairly easy change.

Compared to NIL, to quality assistant coaches, to recruiting budgets, etc. etc. food service is a minor thing but these kinds of details are exactly why our program is where it is at and why UCLA is ranked and on their way to the B1G.

No, the meals aren't going to get you at top 25 recruiting class but these are the kinds of things that cost you recruits, that cost you kids staying with the program and having good attitudes. The recruits know kids who are already here. Who wants to hear "Good school but the food is crap."

It's an indicator of how seriously a school takes athletics, of how willing they are to do what is needed to win.

Some people don't have enough complaints that are already there. It's in their blood :sneaky:

$5,000,000 would be $45 per meal for 100 players eating 3 meals a day every day for a year.
swagging what catering rates in LA area probably are, that sounds about right. probably low for high protein meals
