Travis Hunter Appreciation Thread (Awards: HE12MAN, Walter Camp, Biletnikoff, Bednarik, Lott, Paul Hornung, AP PotY)

Travis:

“It’s also where I think I want to build my family. I love it here. The people are very nice. I will always come back. I will always call this home because Colorado, they took me in with open arms.”

Silmon-Craig:

“I was just thinking of spending my last few moments inside my favorite playground on Folsom Field. There’s nothing like it, nothing like it in the world. I wouldn’t rather be anywhere else today. So I was just taking it in one last time, just to have clarity with the stadium and just a respect to all the fans and all y’all guys. I appreciate you.”

Are the gods cruel enough to let Boise’s presence in a CCG and the weird tiebreakers of the B12 keeping Travis out of a CCG rob him of what is his?

Dude. Obviously no one is stretching out to do this after a score:

Desmond Howard made this the pose you strike in a game. Everyone knows this. Just accept it. You’ll be happier.

I feel a sense of vindication. In the pregame just before the Bosie game, they had the on-field reporter doing a bit about the actual pose, how Howard made this pose and altered the perception of what the trophy actually looks like, then showed a bunch of players doing the Howard pose with a big “wrong” underneath, then a quick shot of the correct pose. Did it for about 8 or so players. I was laughing.

I usually pay more attention to the Wooden Award in basketball and last year the hype for Edey was so overblown it was nauseating. (There was no way IMO that he was the best college player, I would have gone Shead, Davis, or Knecht, but that's another discussion for another day). But what I realized was that Purdue was out front promoting Edey all the time and the media was running with it constantly. To most people that only casually follow college basketball they probably never heard of Jamal Shead nor have any idea what team he played on last year. And I guess that's the whole point.

To that end, I have to give CU and the SID a lot of credit for what they've done this year. I was worried at the start of the year (although I probably shouldn't have been since Prime is here) that CU wouldn't promote Hunter enough for his Heisman campaign. They've done a stellar of job promoting him and getting him spots on College Gameday, Big Noon, and written pieces, etc., almost to the point that I bet if you ask casual observers of college football who should win the Heisman they'll only be able to give you Hunter's name.
