Travis Hunter Appreciation Thread (Awards: HE12MAN, Walter Camp, Biletnikoff, Bednarik, Lott, Paul Hornung, AP PotY)

The comments are gross. A lot of “what else is he going to do with his life” type of stuff and it shows how little people know about him
Yeah, it's unfortunate how few people can imagine the possibility that a young, smart, hard working black man with a college degree has good career options beyond playing sports ball.

Recency bias? Is Shedeur not objectively the best passing QB CU has ever had, including Stewart, Hagan, Sal, Klatt, Detmer, Sefo, Hansen, Hawkins, etc? It’s not the most storied QB program, but he cleared all single season records and many career records in two seasons.

The broader point is that even from a statistical standpoint, he is among the program’s elite players, but he has meant so much more to CU’s program than people seem to want to give him credit for. Perhaps if this was 5 years from now and CU is a perennial CFP program and has a Natty, people would understand just how impactful he was in (re) building the program.

On the player Mt Rushmore of the program, he doesn’t quite make the cut, but he’s probably first 2-4 out from making it.
He is arguably the third best qb in CU history. Neither of the others have their number retired. Hagan meant more to the program due to the national title and while wasn’t a better thrower was a better overall qb in a different style of offense. Pure magic. Stewart was better because he could kill a team with his feet or his arm. Though I would say he didn’t mean as much to the program as Shadeur. Either way, they both deserve retirement of their number since Shadeur’s is being retired.

Hagan deserves to have his number retired. I'm not as sold on Stewart in this case and I'd put SS2 ahead of Stewart in CU's all-time QB rankings.

Hagan is #1 in my book because he stepped up at that position after Sal died and led the Buffs to the National Championship. Again, why is his number not retired?

Now put Shedeur on the '90 and '94 teams

I put slash higher because of his running ability. No doubt Shadeur is a better passer. The other reason I have slash higher is the number of games he won at CU. At that time it took CU from a feel good natty winner to a national powerhouse who ended up being ranked in the top 20 for more than 24 years straight. Slash took great and made it consistently great. I know not a fair comparison though as CU had so many unbelievable players then. Thus the arguably in my other post.
