We played like crap... Agree?

Offense was bad and needs to improve. Perhaps we underestimated the impact of not having a 4 year starter under center? Montez is going to go through some growing pains. Needs to work through them and get better the next couple weeks.

Defense was lights out. Callier, Lewis and Jackson are really good players in the front seven. Uddofia is going to be trail by fire but came on in the 2nd half.

Not having Irwin probably had something to do with it.

Also classic HCMM. When he feels like a game is bottled up, he throttles everything down to basics.

That helped us beat Stanford last season...I ain't complaining.

I guess bewildered is what I call what I'm feeling.

- The "questionable" D crushed it
- The "maybe best O Line in CU history kinda sucked
- Montez was inconsistent at best (so if he thinks being cocky is the way to go, he should probably dial it down)
- Lindsay did good, but he ran out of bounds a LOT
- special teams is still short-bus special
- And thank goodness for the Refs. (do we win without a couple of those calls???)

The defensive performance should be very encouraging.

Yes that delay LB blitz with Drew Lewis and all those hits on the CSU QB helped as well bottling up the running game. Perhaps a factor in throwing that late INT into triple coverage.

We didn't play well.

But we played well enough to win. That is what matters at this point.

My biggest concern was having multiple opportunities to put them away and we didn't. Most of the second quarter and at the start of the third they looked like a team looking for a reason to quit. We didn't give it to them.

This game showed how important Irwin is to our offense.

Defense was helped by the OPIs but the first one was legit, the second marginal but explainable, third one was a terrible call. If someone wants to blame the refs though they can also mention the almost constant holding by the CSU OL that wasn't called, guys pulled down by the jersey and not called.

Our DBs are going to be fine, Drew Lewis is a beast at LB, Leo Jackson showed up on the DL and Callier looks like he is going to replace Jimmy as our speed rusher in the pass rush.

Happy for the W. Felt like it should have been a BIG victory, but we couldn't get it going. I'm feeling there's a lot of opportunity for growth, and hopeful we'll see it.

CSU was actually a little better than I thought they were.

Coaching wise, we did a far better job in the first half. We saw why Lindgren is respected, he honestly drew up some beautiful plays and the play calling was on point through the 17-0 lead. Eliot had some nice looks and they had no adjustment for that Lewis/lb blitz in the first half. Once CSU picked it up in the second half, it took a few series, but we were able to start getting pressure on Stevens again. If he can do that with a relatively inexperienced d, I'm feeling pretty good about this year. We became too conservative on offense and need to be more innovative with our game plan during the later parts of the game.

Player wise, Lewis seemed to come out of nowhere, but what a beast. Leo Jackson, Oliver, and Laguda look to be the stalwarts of this defense. I know there was some hate on Javier Edwards, but ng is a tough position to be noticed. I think he probably opened some holes for Lewis, Gamboa, and Hasslebach tonight. On offensive, the line needs to improve. We have so many playmakers between the receivers and Lindsey; we absolutely need to be putting up more points.

Moeller.
