We played like crap... Agree?

Could have played better, sure, but will clean it up as the year moves on. CSU will compete for the MWC so not a bad team.

Look at Miami losing in the first quarter to Bethune-Cookman, Missou losing to Missouri St, Mich St still close with Bowling Green etc. First week is always a little rough

Lindgrenis respected??? Drew up beautiful plays??? Not what I saw. I think I wish like hell that Chiv was given total control of the offense. I do believe that Lindgren is a very good QB coach, but not a good OC! Elliott has me pumped, and the defense is taking up the new tradition of defense. I just wish we would put this outrageous talent in motion more, like using a fly motion almost every play in order to create confusion on the defense. Chad Brown said that we were going to set them up for a double move that just never happened. Did Montez and the receivers get the chance to utilize it, NO?
Very, very vanilla playcalling last night.

I was very shocked they didn't build off of that short buttonhook pass they kept throwing to Bobo with a double-move.

However, I did see two play designs I REALLY liked-

Montez clearly faked a handoff to Lindsey off the left side of the offense on a sweep. No CSU player bit on the "fake" so Montez dumped it off to Lindsey in the flat; he pushed it upfield for like 10 yards.

The second was the Montez run that was called back on holding- I couldn't really tell how they set it up because of all the misdirection, but Montez had a good 20 yards that was called back.

Also looked like as usual a big difference in the motivation level of the players.

CU's players looked like they were excited to play a game but once they got up a couple scores they weren't real motivated by the opponent. CSU even with the game last week looked like this was their yearly game to show the world they are legit.

They know that Bama is going to kill them and after that the only way they get noticed nationally is if they end up on a blooper reel.

This game should serve as a wake up call to the team. I'm sure the O is pissed at their performance...they should be uber focused this week in practice. So it was a good game for that reason.

Glad that game is in the books and we only have a couple left in the series. The brisket and wings were awesome as was the beer flowing at Crazy Neighbor. Also enjoyed some cigars which seems to be a new passion that is building.

We won. The lamb faithful are crying. It will be forgotten by all after the long weekend and we will head off to play in a conference that people care about. The lambs will be a nice local filler story.

Weekend was a success.

Statistically speaking that CSU offense will probably end up in the top 10 or close to it, especially playing in the Mountain West. The fact CU held them to 3 points should tell us a lot. Was one of the weirdest 3rd quarters and essentially second halves I've seen in a while. If there was ever a bend and don't break defense, it was last night.

CSU is a good team and plenty of people on here talked about it. If people were surprised by that, then you are not paying attention.

I thought it was a great outcome. Holding the Lambs to 3 pts but a lot of teaching and review for the coaches to provide. Things I noticed, D. McCartney was not utilized in his optimal position much (on the edge rush), N. Fisher was not on the field a lot, the teams best OL did not play, the offensive play calling was restrictive/vanilla. So the team looked physical, Montez looked great, victory over the lambs, didn't show to much of the Offense or Defense and the team has plenty of ability to improve. I think that checks all the boxes - a success!

They should have played fisher more for sure.

Fisher didn't even play. Hammy.

Not really a fan of these kinds of comparisons when those teams end up winning by 70.

But I will say that our defense tackled really well. Like, elite well. Good wraps, swarmed, if they got their hands on someone they went to the ground. And they were hitting HARD! So I liked that.

I saw at least three "tackles" by CU db's where there was no attempt to wrap up, just threw their body at the ball carrier. I hope that's not a trend.

He gets a momentary pass from me given it was his first start, but Udoffia did it on multiple occasions. He got better as the game wore on.

Why throw all those comebacks without going for the double move?
I wondered that myself. It seemed like they were setting up for the double move. Only thing I can think of is that they wanted to set the table for a future game. Show something on film and do something different in a game. Wishful thinking? Perhaps.

Would you rather be more nervous about the defense after week one or the offense?

We know the offense has talent. The defense was a nice surprise.
