Their saving grace (if they had any) these past few years has been WR transfers. Highly doubt they'll ever see one of those again.

Curious to see what their stadium will look like when we show up next season. Then we can roll them and forget about them for a few years.

Last time I saw BC play was at Gillette Stadium against UMass and BC manhandled them while we barely put UMass away during that time.

Looks like CSU is going to be a more physical football team under Addazio and with the MWC Mountain division becoming more physical, this was a good hire by CSU given how good the Rams OL tends to be.

Could CSU have done better? Possibly.

They could have had they tried and not used Urban's corrupt *** as a "search firm". Todd Graham or Sarkisian would have both been GREAT hires there. Their recruiting footprint is pretty similar to ours-but they're competing with the G5s in those states. We cannot take our foot off the pedal in that game next year-nothing wrong with dropping 65-70 on them in HC Dude's Lammie debut. We do that Parker may ask out of 23-24.

I actually hate Adazzio for csu. They’ll be a tough nosed team again who will muck things up in an attempt to keep things close with us.

As the article above states though, if he tries to immediately change CSU's offensive scheme from the one they've run for years now to the one he likes to run, it's going to take years for them to be successful on offense. Hell, he might not even be there in 2023.

Look at how big of a jump the buffs made this year in terms of physicality and toughness up front. It’s not like CSU doesn’t have talent up front.

He can probably beat New Mexico and some of the other garbage they get to play yearly, but we need to keep our recent history in mind: We've beaten them by at least 14 points the last four times we've played them. 2017 should have been at least 31-3 IMO. We are WAY ahead of them talent wise, and that gap is going to get bigger as Mel and staff continue to recruit. We played like ass for a half this year and still hung a 50 burger/beat them by 21. I don't see how we don't go up there and punk them in his debut.

I think CSU will see a jump in the first couple years but sustained success will be the problem

Does CSU have talent up front? Admittedly, I didn’t watch CSU beyond game 1 against the Buffs, but I just had Buffaholic tell me that the offensive line was garbage. Further, I do know that one of the true bright spots during the season was the play of true freshman OG Nouili who announced that he was in the transfer portal. I wasn’t particularly impressed with any of their running backs. O’Brien seems like an average QB. The strength of the team was WR, but will Warren Jackson stay or enter the NFL draft? I liked Dante Wright a whole lot when he played CU, but he has a redshirt, will he transfer?

Yeah, they consistently recruit near the top of their conference.

Yeah, they consistently recruit near the top of their conference.

Factually, that’s correct. They recruit in the 80s nationally is also correct.

Mountain West isn’t very good, but we sort of had that discussion earlier this week about the attractiveness of CSU as a G5 job. I think the invisible hand of the coaching market kind of proved me right. Nevertheless, I respect your opinion and I’m far from an expert on CSU personnel.

Okay but that is who they are competing against. No I’m not worried about them against our buffs what so ever just stating that going back to physical football is never a bad thing. We have complimented tucker for the same philosophy around here right?

You really think that was the invisible hand of the coaching market? Seems like a completely botched hiring process ran by a ****ty AD (I have been blasting him for a couple years now since he have Bobo that extension for no reason) who let urban come in and manipulate things.

And let’s be honest, G5 schools hiring butch jones or addazio isn’t some awful hire. I would agree that addazio hire is a really weird fit but he has earned his stripes as a coach and fought it out at a hard place to win recently. Wouldn’t have been my choice but it could have been worse.

I would like to see CU take over their new stadium like Nebraska did to our stadium.

Would be great, but I doubt it will happen. Their fleeting fanbase is all about the CU game. 90% of them won't know who this coach is, and will stop attending games by October 1st, but they'll get all excited about the prospect of a Ram win in late August.

I like physical football too, and if Addazio can instill that, CSU may do well. Again, I was under the impression that his BC defenses were really poor the last few years. A lot of folks also credit Ryan Day with some of his early success before Day moved on.

On the second point, it may be a botched hiring process, an over reliance on Urban Meyer, hard to know, but it didn’t seem like any really exciting candidates were ever linked to the CSU job. McElwain, as OC for Alabama, was an exciting hire. Bobo, as OC for UGA, was an exciting hire. In my opinion, Addazio, at age 60, with his track record, was not a hire many schools would make.

We're going to be favored by at least 2 touchdowns. They're in prove it mode with HC Dude and the presser hasn't even happened yet. My next question might be better suited for the gambling thread, but whatever-I'd put the over/under of reporters who are employed by somebody other than the school who show up at his presser at 7. Thoughts? LOL.

I agree completely. Worse would have been Food Cart or Wilson. CSU isn't in the business of bringing in football coaches with asterisked backstories. In a weird way I can imagine the Front Range media warming up to this guy, at least initially. The TV and print folks have a soft spot for CSU, so they'll see the Dude stuff as "Cute 'n Quirky". If he can get them into 6 or 7-win Flex Seal Bowls early and often, he might stick around up in FoCo.

They are stupid fans. csu doesn’t need flash. They need someone who can get them to run the ball and keep things close. Recruiting to Ft. Collins for decent MW level players will get them consistently to bowl games. They may even come close to covering against Colorado.

Sparkles was a huge get for them. Bobo-not so much. He hadn't coached outside of the state of Georgia until he took the CSU gig. This is an absolute ****ing disaster for them. I fully expect that fanbase to expect us to roll up there and ****ing mudhole them next year.

The second point goes back to what I said when that gig opened up. What current P5 play caller/coordinator with no off the field issues in his past takes that job? Dave Aranda makes almost double at LSU what Bobo did as the head goat. Jimmy Lake got promoted to one of the better HC jobs on the west coast with no HC experience. Jeff Scott (using him because he got the South Florida gig) wouldn't entertain that gig either IMO.

They had no other choice but to take a retread who was out of coaching, get some Power 5 school's sloppy seconds, or take a chance on a guy like Sarkisian, Wilson, or Food Cart and hope they've learned from their past issues.

Yeah and that’s a perfectly valid criticism of him but again just because someone fails at the P5 level doesn’t mean they can’t win at a G5 school right?

I just thought it was poorly handled. The initial lists were solid, Feldman and football scoop said there would be plenty of interest in one of the better G5 jobs (their words not mine) and then their AD comes out and says he wants someone with head coaching experience, they bring in urban, try to hire Jones and end up looking at old assistant of Meyer after the president says no to jones. Just sounds like an awful search IMO. Then you have the rumors of their AD going to Cincy and I can’t imagine that helped trying to land anyone.

Addazio just doesn’t seem like someone who is going to help them beat Boise but you never really know until things get rolling.
