Yeah and that’s a perfectly valid criticism of him but again just because someone fails at the P5 level doesn’t mean they can’t win at a G5 school right?

I just thought it was poorly handled. The initial lists were solid, Feldman and football scoop said there would be plenty of interest in one of the better G5 jobs (their words not mine) and then their AD comes out and says he wants someone with head coaching experience, they bring in urban, try to hire Jones and end up looking at old assistant of Meyer after the president says no to jones. Just sounds like an awful search IMO. Then you have the rumors of their AD going to Cincy and I can’t imagine that helped trying to land anyone.

Addazio just doesn’t seem like someone who is going to help them beat Boise but you never really know until things get rolling.

Yep. That’s all fair.

He’s got some selling to do with the CSU fan base and that current roster, that’s job 1 for him. Not an easy start.

They could have had they tried and not used Urban's corrupt *** as a "search firm". Todd Graham or Sarkisian would have both been GREAT hires there. Their recruiting footprint is pretty similar to ours-but they're competing with the G5s in those states. We cannot take our foot off the pedal in that game next year-nothing wrong with dropping 65-70 on them in HC Dude's Lammie debut. We do that Parker may ask out of 23-24.

Todd Graham would have been a great hire for the Rams. I think Addazio could end up being a good hire although. He might have taken Boston College as far as he could in the ACC and he's going to a school that might have he second best overall talent in a 12 team conference.

Crazy how things change in a year. Chip Long was a hot commodity last year for a P5 HC position
I wonder what the story is, they’re offense was actually pretty good. 37ppg would have been good for 2nd in the Pac12 or BIG, and 3rd in the SEC.

Joel Klatt on the Fan calls Adazio a home rum hire for CSU. Interesting
Huh. I mean, I think Klatt has interesting takes, but I don't see how this makes any sense. What reasons did he provide to justify "home run"? If it's worth downloading the episode, I'll check it out.

I forget the source but saw that (based on recruiting rankings) CSU has the #2 talent behind only Boise State in the MWC. If true, Addazio with a group of solid assistants can win some games the next few years.
This is dead wrong. Not sure where you saw this.

The risk in hiring a guy like that is that he probably doesn’t understand what he did wrong to get fired in the first place, and is therefore likely to make the same mistakes at the new job.
I still think MM would have been a good choice for them. That’s the kind of program he can recruit middle of the road guys to and find a few gems to win 7-9 games a year consistently.
Underrated post.

Okay but that is who they are competing against. No I’m not worried about them against our buffs what so ever just stating that going back to physical football is never a bad thing. We have complimented tucker for the same philosophy around here right?

You really think that was the invisible hand of the coaching market? Seems like a completely botched hiring process ran by a ****ty AD (I have been blasting him for a couple years now since he have Bobo that extension for no reason) who let urban come in and manipulate things.

And let’s be honest, G5 schools hiring butch jones or addazio isn’t some awful hire. I would agree that addazio hire is a really weird fit but he has earned his stripes as a coach and fought it out at a hard place to win recently. Wouldn’t have been my choice but it could have been worse.
"...fought it out at a hard place to win recently."

Ever occur to you that "The Dude" was precisely the reason BC became "a hard place to win recently"?

While I like Klatt a lot (still resent GB's blowing his RS year for 5 plays in a rout of Baylor) due to his rapid rise in the Media Industry, sometimes Klatt becomes a "legend in his own mind!"

This is one of those instances!

I mean, Addazio could work out just fine for CSU - you never know with these things..... but no one can look at the hiring right now and call it a 'home-run'

And you don't fire Mike Bobo to hire a guy with a similar ceiling.
Right - and Bobo had that team looking better to end the season and returned his entire offense next year.

I get why you had to fire him - the fans were in revolt and your empty stadium turned into a meme - but you basically just paid out the ass to fire him and then hired a guy who really doesn't project to be any better and is generating no excitement from your fanbase.

I wasn't sold on Tony Alford - but you wouldn't have had the same problem

Please provide YOUR evidence! Because of your strong declaration above, I took the time to go back and find it. I hate having to do that. It's not wrong. Eat your words Lama!

Here you will find an article from The Athletic titled "Coaching job profile: Pluses and minuses of the Colorado State opening".

And I quote:
three of Bobo’s four full recruiting classes were ranked No. 2 in the Mountain West, behind only Boise State. Based on recruiting rankings, Colorado State has the second-most “talent” in the Mountain West, according to the 247Sports Talent Composite.

Earlier, I indicated that I was worried about CSU if they got Tony. I am no longer worried and in fact am excited that CSU will continue to stagnate and allow CU to continue it’S dominance in this series. Thank you CSU atheletic department for helping my family by not making me buy beer for CSU alumni friends for at least the next four years until you can afford to buy out his contract!!

Alford would have been their Jon Embree. They couldn't do that. They went the right way by going with a retread, but they picked the wrong one. I just wanna go up there and paste them bad enough to where they don't want to play in 2023.
