17 carries for 24 yards. 3.8 career average. No explosion, no speed.

Cherry picking stats - he has been given the ball on 3rd down and short/goal line situations. He is a talented true sophomore. He may not start at CU with a talented RB group, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have talent or a role on this team.

Not cherry picking. I'm betting you have no evidence to support your claim here. He has not been used as a short yardage back exclusively or really at all for that matter.

My opinion of Mangham as a player is based solely off his on field performance.

To start, you’re not even using the right terms. A sharp is a handicapper who correctly assesses a bookmaker’s line strengths/weaknesses more offen than not. Sharps made their entire weekends on this game.

This game was a bloodbath for sportsbooks since it was a setup from the start. Circa is the market setter. Sharps put small money on Colorado when the game was opened as a pickem to make Colorado a two point dog. Then, there were sharps (me included) who hammered Colorado +2, then +1.5, and so on. Most shops closed Colorado -3.5/4 given the big money buyback on Colorado.

The books needed SDSU today and it didn’t happen even though they closed a bad line for Colorado bettors. Chalk one up for the sharps.

I have a different take, and I like Keith Miller a lot and he will play a lot of football here! They may be making undisciplined choices outside football or at practice, but I would prefer to see coaches help kids succeed, not make them fail. It feels like Hagan has a wishy washy way of working with backs and messing with them in an unproductive way. We needed solid backup RB play today, cause Brou does not need that many carries against an average OOC opponent. I was looking for insight into what the hell Hagan is doing with them.
 
When playing a lesser talented team with a day and a half of prep time, you choose to play players that have proven to be assignment sound. I am sure that will be explained to Ashaad.

I'm not happy with his usage either. Never have liked how Hagan deploys his backs. He's always been a guy who clearly plays favorites. That said, I'd rather see Clayton getting those extra carries, and not Mangham or Davis, especially in a year that doesn't count toward eligibility.

My take on Mangham was he was better suited for defense or being an H back. Good hands, but he doesn't have quick feet or good top end speed.
 
I’ll come out and say it: KD Nixon shouldn’t be a starter on this team. Stanley, Shenault and Rice have all played really well this year and I’d prefer they get more balls thrown their way.

The game was ugly, but CU was in control the entire game. It was never in doubt. The offense couldn’t get going and we simply out athleted an out manned SDSU squad. Props to SDSU for agreeing to fly to Colorado on short notice to play a game against a team they had no time to prepare for.
 
My concern about this game is that future opponents will look at what SDSU did on defense and use it as a guide to how to defend CU. Chev needs to get more creative. I’ll chalk this up to the lack of prep, but we can’t have that kind of performance from the offense next week.

I can probably agree with all that. Sometimes coaches that were really good players think they can play mind games with these young kids and it just does not click. It is better to make everyone truly a better man and a better player, and it always seems like there is drama somehow in playing time choices, or other factors. I hope I am wrong, I do love and trust Hagan, he has earned that, but just feels odd.

I am not a fan of us keeping a TE in the game when we go with 4 wide sets? If the TE is going to swing in and block, that is fine, but no way are any of our current TE's anywhere close to a Brenden Rice or Keith Miller in size and catching ability!

Oh well, we are 3-0 and these players should celebrate an ugly win and buckle down, cause we can beat Arizona!!!

Based on what I've seen, our starters at receiver should be Rice and Shenault on the outside with Stanley in the slot. Use Arias if you're looking for a deep shot, use KD in a gadget role, carrying the ball and making a few catches. Mix in Bell and Jackson as subs.

Rice, Shenault, and Stanley also appear to be our most willing blockers at receiver too.

It's fine using a TE in 4 wide sets if you have Chase Coffman or Jade Navarro, but none of our TE's are those guys.

Bell is a weapon also, and should be used a lot in the slot or as a gadget. Hard to say that KD would be more than WR5 or 6 at this point.
 
Roth mentioned a few times about how hard it is to throw against that type of D, especially with no prep. One one was open down field. Chalking it up as a W - burn the film and move on. Definitely hope we can get some TEs healthy or get creative with some of our receivers lining up as TEs.

This is basically my takeaway from the game.
 
I was pretty annoyed with the offense during the game, but 48 hours to prep against a unique defensive set... perhaps some forgiveness is in order. The injuries at TE probably cost us in the running game against the 3-3-5 as well....

They got it done!
