Official Texas A&M Pregame / Game Thread

I was texting my friends early in the 2nd half that we couldn’t let Aggy score because I was convinced we wouldn’t score another point. That pretty much says it all.

The offense was garbage.

Even when we were licking our chops that we got to face Calzone, it was because he was making garbage plays - not that the plays were not there.

Aggy’s offensive scheme looked worlds better than ours. It was just that for most of the game, their quarterback couldn’t execute it.
 
Just back from Denver. The stadium was electric. What a fun atmosphere as both fan bases were loud. Too bad a large A&M group (12-15) were being asshole dick bags at the end of the game. I really lost any respect I had for them. They were yapping at CU fans as if they had beat the Buffs in a blowout.

Did anyone notice the drive where AM got their FG the clock ran to 0 and the refs didn't call the penalty? Guess it was SEC refs protecting the conference.

Agree he will be our QB for the next few years. Disagree he’s very good right now. He’s not bad but he’s not going to help us win anything. Hasn’t put up meaningful passing yards with good WRs in 2 games. Couldn’t put together a drive in the second half. The backup A&M QB was clearly the better player and he’s their backup.
 
Well, I think today was a good and bad day. Bad, we get edged out late. Good, you learn way more from that. Pick up recruiting, that gap will close quicker.

And no question the coaching is bad, we lose individual battles and we lose team battles on offense.

But the sad fact is that a lot of teams win games with bad coaching because they have better players.

You could argue that aTm was poorly coached today. I'm certain that many of their fans will spend the week questioning their play calling.

Bottom line though was that when it came down to it they had enough better individual players to win the game. This was especially true as their defensive ends dominated our OTs all game long but extended to other position battles as well.

I'm done with Dorrell and I'm done with this staff.

Some may remember that I was one of those who gave Hawkins extra time and MikeMac the benefit of the doubt.

I have learned my lesson. Bad staffs don't magically become good, bad recruiters don't magically figure out how to be good.

KD and staff gave us a fun year last year and this was a fun game but KDs history looks to be repeating itself.

When I read stupid bull**** like "I'm done with Dorrell because he can't recruit", I get that way. We tried it with Mel Tucker-and saw how that worked.

I’d guess that probably played a factor. Especially, given the lack of QB depth.

Anyway, while it was a disappointing loss, I think there’s actually a lot to be encouraged by. The defense is much better than I’d expected.

And if not for the bogus OPI call that took a first down away or the freaking kicker missing a 41 yard fg, it could have been a different story.

And while Lewis is clearly a great athlete, he also obviously has a lot to learn about playing QB. From not recognizing obvious blitzes to deciding who he’s throwing to pre-snap and staring down his target the whole way.

Presumably, with more film study and live reps, he’ll have a better understanding of what defenses are doing and be more comfortable as the season goes on.

I was going to bring this up. I think we stopped running the read option because Lewis got clocked pretty hard and we can’t afford to lose him.
