#Fire Coach Dorrell

So what are the buyout numbers? We’ve been talking about this $7.5m this year and $5m after 12/31, but that appears to be if HE terminated the contract. If CU terminates the contract without cause, they owe him whatever’s left on the contract, which is currently just below $15m. Is this accurate?
Given how much Dorrell loves Boulder, I’m surprised RG even negotiated a buyout at all - KD will never leave us, why do we need a buyout??

What’s the cost of the season ticket non renewals, lost F&B revenue, lower merch sales, etc?
These are all significant.

What it would probably take to move the needle though is for some significant donors who put money into both athletics and the academic side to inform those in charge that the money stops until changes are made.

When it starts to hurt the non-athletic side of the house then they will pay attention.

What he did was the equivalent of swatting someone's arm when they were stretching; you were walking behind them, and basically tapped their arm so you didn't get hit in the face.

You'd make a better case he assaulted every cu loving, self hating insane fan who was forced to watch that torturous **** show. My mindset is 1a get rid of chev, 1b get rid of Kd, but that was barnett 'and she's a girl'. A whole lot of nothing.

Nah. I don’t want to overstate it either, but he clearly took a step to his right, going out of his way to push the cameraman. To the ground. And why? Because HIS team stinks out loud.

Coaches have been FIRED for shoving players..
This was a pretty violent swipe..

Needs to be fired..guaranteed he has clauses for conduct embarrassing the Iniversity..

This made national news....not a trivial act..and his apology a day later pathetic..

The whole camera issue is a non issue. HE was frustrated and he made a mistake by shoving equipment. The guy appologized, time to move on. Lets recao Dorrell took the program to a bowl game last season. Year 2, the team has played 5 games out of a 12 game schedule. Some fans want him fired. A lot of unreasonable grumpy old men that like to drink on Saturday and yell at College kids. What happens next, if Dorrell gets fired?

They hire someone who is actually qualified to be a coach at this level

Yeah good luck with that. Several coaches rejected the job. Mel Tucker left for Michigan state. Some times a program that is down for over 15 years, should allow a guy to rebuild the program. The guy is obviously qualified. Coached at UCLA for 5 seasons.Every season he has been a College Head coach, his team has gone to a bowl game. But well good luck. I am off to watch football.

The program didn't need to be rebuilt when KD was hired. They had good talent coming in and the team was ready to go the next step.

Since then the recruiting has tanked and the Buffs are the worst P5 teams in the nation.

Can we be honest for a moment - if CU were 4-1 right now and recruiting lights out, no one would be suggesting he should be fired for that camera shove - we’d all be whining about how the media blows everything CU out of proportion.

If you want to fire the guy based on the team’s performance then do it - don’t use this camera incident as justification for firing a guy you really want gone for other reasons.

It is either a fireable offense..or it is not. Plenty of history recently that this is completely unacceptable...extremely embarrassing to the University...and have t seen it on such a documented way since Woody Hayes tried to punch a Clemson player.

Eyes of the beholder..

Doing a job at a mediocre clip 20 years ago doesn’t make you qualified to do it today. And as dio said, this program didn’t need a rebuild, it needed someone to come in and push them to the bowl game level. He did that in a fluky, shortened year and has now driven the program into the ground. We are the worst P5 program in the country at this point.

Well, it isn’t a non issue. It isn’t a firing offense though.

It's only a non issue if people thought Dorrell would be fired today because of it, however it DID happen and that's a red mark against him. Do you think RG enjoyed putting out fires last night? It happened and it eventually could be one of many reasons that will eventually get Dorrell the axe.

This is so far from punching a player it’s a ridiculous. He pushed a camera out of his way running to the locker room. Petty - yes, cowardly - yes, something requiring a sincere apology - yes. But fireable? Come on. Anyone suggesting they would want him fired if he were 4-1 and putting together a top 25 recruiting class is a liar.

Look again. Didn't step to his right and I doubt the cameraman fell considering the camera didn't. There is plenty to complain about with Dorrell. This shows he isn't as composed as he portrays but it's not assault like some posters are saying

Head Coach Karl Dorrell had 100% INTENT to push the camera/camera man. This from THE leader of young men. The representative of the University of Colorado football team. It was a p ussy move. The cameraman was defenseless.
He could have gotten hurt.

Its not fireable by any stretch because the cameraman wasn't hurt-but its strike one.

Here's another question that just popped into my head re: him not talking to Johnson after the Minnesota game. Isn't he obligated to do that contractually?

So, to recap, we can’t fire an incompetent head coach because no competent coach would take the job. Did I get that right?

RG is an agent’s best friend.
Pittman’s buyout.

Pittman’s contract includes extensive language regarding buyout procedures if he is fired for convenience. He will be owed a severance equal to 75% of his remaining salary if he wins half or more of his games, and a 50% buyout if he has an overall losing record. No buyout would be paid if Pittman is fired for cause.
