22-23 Transfer Portal and General Recruiting Catch-All Thread

Our 2016 team was great at this and so fun to watch.
I re-watched a number of our close games from that year when P12N had them on a loop a while back. I was amazed how many critical offensive plays down the stretch of the season ended up being a Sefo power run, or something he turned into a TD or first down on a great effort. He was truly the main difference between a great season and a good one. He might not have been a great, natural passer, but he refused to lose. As stacked as the defense was, we had to score in some critical situations. Amazing what a difference a good QB can make.

I’m looking forward to soon having more than one great season to look back. Even just having Shedeur raises everyone. And we have a ton more than that now.

I really understand why people think Colorado will suck. They think Sanders at QB is just nepotism and the Spring game was against bad players for the starter. The top WR in the game transferred. The only player they think Colorado has is Travis Hunter.

But us who are here everyday know what we have. What has came in. What's still coming. While the media sees another 1-2 win team with Travis Hunter being the only really good player to great player, we know that this team has 12-13 really good to great players and the others around them can play at this level.

SkoBuffs! Let's win the division and go to Vegas!

Beat SC, Nebraska, TCU, and Utah!

I get this for the normal fan, but I’m stuck as to how Vegas can treat this as a 2-3 win team

I want to start by saying I think Shedeur is legit and will absolutely ball out this year. Best QB CU has had since Klatt, most talented since Hansen (IMO Hansen could have been the recent best QB till now if he got a fair shake).

But I didn't realize he had originally committed to FAU before flipping to JSU when Prime was hired there. What was the deal there? Did none of the bigger schools have committable offers out? Or did he just really want to be at FAU?

I think it was their families relationship with Taggart.

A lot of sharps/bookies I know believe that the schedule combined with their distrust of a Coach Prime led team has pushed the total down.
THis makes sense, on its face. But is the schedule *really* that hard? I think there is a hard cap on wins this year, due to the schedule, but I think 8/12 teams CU plays this year are at or below CU's talent level. We really believing in Wazzu that much??

Also, they can **** right off with the Coach Prime stuff. The coaching staff is top 4 in the conference, at worst, imo. That matters more to me

That’s why betting is fun. Your confidence level can be marked by the size of your wager.

I’ve already posted preliminary numbers about Colorado’s place compared to its competition. The current total is pretty sharp.

I also wouldn't doubt that they are also using some metrics like ESPN's FPI, which puts an emphasis on things like past performance, even going back 4 years with the latest season having a heavier impact, and things like returning starters. Considering a rebuild on the scale Prime is doing is unprecedented, no one is going to have a model that can give an accurate representation on this season.

Now, I FOR SURE know what that last sentence means. But for others who don't, why don't you explain it to me like i'm five

Taggart. He was heavily wanted by Alabama. Easily would be their starter right now since Young is gone. He was a lock for FSU till they fired Taggart and that pissed off Prime

Yep. And the fact that they only think Hunter is the only really good player in a good conference.

Everyone and I mean everyone has a lot to prove outside of Hunter and even be has to live up to the billing to the national media.

Scouts are far more advanced on this than fans or the media and if they feel like this team has a lot of pros, we could be in for a special season. TCU went to the National championship but they also had 8 players drafted in the NFL draft.

I see this more like Washington last year where most of the NFL prospects are Juniors and Sophomores

Here are the NFL prospects who are seniors on this squad

Javon Antonio* (ST) - Likely UDFA
Xavier Weaver (ST) - Potential Day 2
Chance Main - Likely UDFA
Jordan Domineck - Potential Day 2
Brandon Gant - Potential Day 3
Rodrick Ward - Potential Day 3

I don't see any major early entry Juniors. Maybe Sanders (QB), McCaskill, and Horn Jr but all would have to have major breakout seasons and want to leave. Horn Jr. would be wise to have two more years on tape. McCaskill might need another year on film as well. Sanders, just depends on the QB class.

It is pretty clear to me that Sanders is the best QB at CU since Detmer. I know a lot of the younger 35 year olds don’t have this point of reference.

Where do you think Gant plays? Thanks.

I agree with this. Koy was awesome and would have been really great if he hadn't been built entirely of straw.

I think Shedeur has a lot of Koy in him: very accurate, reads the field well, understands what the point of the play/offense is. Difference is, Shedeur has muscle, size, and a bit of speed. Koy was a crafty lilypad with a natural passer's motion.

Depends on the package. He will spend more time at LB but he will be all over the field. If drafted, it will be due to his versatility
I'm just happy to see us get some real speed down into the LB corp. Our defense has struggled for so long, sideline-to-sideline. It was the only knock on Landman, but he was so pre-cog in his reads that he knew what the RB was going to have for dinner that night before the ball was snapped.

This is the ultimate way CU levels the playing field in 2023. Team speed.
No glaring weaknesses and the QB position as a strength.
