This was the 54th day countdown post on Reddit. Great game:
An all time great. The creativity from Riley and OU’s offense in the first half was something else.

He starts on August 1st. There's a lot going on. New $15M indoor practice facility for football opening. $170M renovation and expansion of the football stadium starting after the season. Also a $130M second round of football stadium improvements in the plan. A lot of chatter that this is all about positioning KU for B1G membership, which would be a big blow to the Big 12.
Why did Riley go conservative? Took ball out of Baker’s hands. Learned his lesson.Georgia beating them down in the 2nd half was better.
Yeah. He’s terrible.mayfield sucked agsinst a real defense, like Georgia had when they adjusted at halftime.

I am surprised Jeff Long is getting so much praise from the national media after his last couple of years at Arkansas. They keep saying he is good at fund raising but that is probably the easiest part of the job at Arkansas and he completely botched the football program.
Okay but it's not like he is moving from Arkansas to Alabama, he is taking over a pretty rough program. I just thought the fund raising comments were hilarious.People overrate the Arkansas job though. It is an okay job in a tough division.

I agree that they need someone to raise money for their projects, all I was saying is that part of the job is a lot different at Arkansas than it is at Kansas and I don't think it will translate over like some of the writers think it will. They need to fundraise to dramatically upgrade their football facilities.
One of the reasons writers (rightfully) are in his corner is he fired Petrino. Not sure how many ADs would have done the same, or at least right away.
Kansas just needs to throw some cash and a decent (obviously not great) option will materialize.
Bert is available.Jeff Long made some good hires during his time at Arkansas. Perhaps the next Kansas coach will be a good one.
Venables getting paid $2M a year to be a coordinator (with some extras). Total contract value is $11.6M over 5 years.
This is why I find it infuriating and embarrassing when I see people in the CU community question paying the HC over $3M a year coming off a national coach of the year award. Too many people around our program have BMW performance expectations while thinking the cost of a Kia is outrageous.
Which is why I'm so supportive of RG taking it easy on spending right now for new sports & facilities while he focuses on building his war chest & fundraising infrastructure/ donor culture. We need to get to the point where there's money there out of the AD endowment to make coaching changes and big time hires based on what's best for the football program rather than what's frugal. What should infuriate you more is the narrative by many around here that HCMM keeps his job, regardless of on-field performance in 2018, solely because CU can't afford his buyout.
I like that, in theory, but are we even sure RG has the support of the administration for big time hires and doing what's best for football, rather than what's frugal? With a pricey, big time HC hire, comes pricier OC/DC and assistants, bigger recruiting budget, etc. Are we sure DiStefano, the BOR and the new Prez would be OK with football being the face of the University?Which is why I'm so supportive of RG taking it easy on spending right now for new sports & facilities while he focuses on building his war chest & fundraising infrastructure/ donor culture. Money talks. I don't think that the President, Chancellor and Regents give a single **** what the AD spends as long as it is paying for itself while avoiding academic, criminal & NCAA scandals that would tarnish the university's reputation. If the AD is doing that, it's sending millions of dollars to the university in scholarship tuition dollars each year while also driving easier fundraising for everyone. So the key for the AD is to build the endowment and revenue streams so that it never has to ask the university to write a check to cover it for a mistake in hiring or budgeting or facility construction. Freedom comes from financial independence. How can you compare a national championship winning DC to a national head coach of the year who didn’t even make a bowl game the following year?
