2018 NCAA tournament thread

Michigan is beating the **** out of Houston and getting no calls.

I agree with you, but you can't win a basketball game if you can't put the ball in the basket. How many consecutive missed shots have they had now?

Man-bun guard Gray is incredible, throws up prayers but they go in. And Houston is about to win.

Man. This has been the best tournament in a while. College B-ball is absolutely awesome. Don't care what anyone says.

Didn’t like Michigan winning. But doesn’t bother me a lick to see Sampson lose.

I have a real problem with the clueless defense by Houston on that final play. I don't care about not guarding the inbounds. But, damn, you can't allow 2 easy passes into the front court like that. Didn't contest anything until the shot (and probably fouled the shooter, actually).

Had Man-Bun put his hands up, different outcome.

Lack of defensive awareness and end game toughness is surprising to see from a Sampson coached team.

Trying not to foul, most likely.

As for the last shot, I don't think he was fouled as much as he was completely off balance. Just adds to the story, I guess.

A little OT: the CIT Tournament. This was in today's Greeley paper, about today's UNC game. This is the 2nd round of the tournament and UNC's 1st game. I'm left to wonder if they'd have been in the tourney at all, but not given a bye, if they hadn't paid. Sounds like "no".

"The school — with a big assist from sponsors Bank of Colorado and Pepsi — had to pay to host the game, but UNC Athletic Director Darren Dunn said the seniors on the team, some of whom remained with the school through a self-imposed postseason ban stemming from NCAA violations committed by the program's previous coaching staff, deserved another game in UNC blue and gold."

I’d guess 4 out of 5 times that final shot’s a miss - maybe 9 out of 10 times - but in that situation Houston should make it impossible to get the shot off. That seemed doable, but wasn’t done. Great game/finish for anyone who’s not backing Houston.

Kinda funny that Purdue and Butler are only an hour away from each other in Indiana.

Presumably, if they played in Indiana, there would be a lot more people there than currently at this game in Detroit. It's kinda embarrassing how many empty seats there are.

Syracuse and Michigan St is an interesting matchup. Syracuse isn't very deep though.

A great message sent out by Joe Lunardi today - he is saying that under today's standards, Larry Bird and the 1979 Indiana State team, which played in the National Championship game, would not be selected as an at-large. They played two non-D1 teams and had only ONE Quadrant 1 win.
