2020 CU football season POSTPONED until Nov 6th?

I am not sure how the Big10 will actually be able to play given that the governor of that state is unlikely to allow it.

That is what the Pac12 is up against. Governors of California, Oregon, and Washington may be tough to convince.
I keep seeing things on Twitter like, "BIG coaches are on a conference call discussing possibilities" and "BIG coaches are pushing for a traditional schedule to take place, but state governors and university presidents may have a say in it"...

Uhhhh no ****... Why does anyone believe the coaches have any authority or say in all of this?

I'm wondering if USC has been approached in the last couple of months by the BiG12 or other conferences about defecting. The trajectory for the Pac hasn't been great for the last few years, now this just adds to it.

I heard an interview with Petros Papadakis out of LA the other day and he said that USC doesn't seem too upset about the fact that they won't be playing football this fall.

Although the PAC is way down, I just don't see the B1B going it alone in a season... I mean I guess they have a season, but that season is alone, unless other conferences join. I guess if I see other conferences joining (although they are not P65) but outside the P65 why not wait until the Spring?? Also, if other conferences joined in a Thanksgiving start, I would imagine the PAC would reconsider and join the early, such as not to be left alone. For the remaining non-P65 teams that do not play in the fall, I see it as an all (they all start together, whenever that is) or nothing (they either do not play in the Spring, or at all and just wait for fall 2021).

I suppose the B1G and PAC could sort of do conference only scrimmages, but that is really what it is, unless the 26 play a season somewhat together, is it even a true season?

I kinda like the 6 games in the spring / 12 in the fall approach. 18 games in 10 months seems about right. Maybe 8/10.

No. Larry is going to be a visionary and turn us into the AAF v3.0! Get on board.

In all seriousness, if we're the only league who chooses not to play (and we don't see outbreaks that result in a paused season), this institution better be looking for a way out of this league.
Yea! We’ll go find another conference that lets us go 5-7.

I think it would be wise for the P12 to be coordinating with the B1G on this. Don’t let too much time pass while we wait to see what the virus does. It’s going to do what it’s going to do.

COVID has dramatically lower risk for a college student. It makes no sense for them to hide in the basement for months on-end.

We agree that parents of regular students have a legitimate gripe, but they are not as safe as athletes who are subject to regular testing. That will change soon it seems, just not clear exactly when.

More importantly, why would the parent of a regular student be concerned about what 200 student-athletes do?

Good thing those 20 something students can’t spread Covid to high risk people.

This a bunch of times.

Until the presidents and the governors are making the statements it is all simply wishful thinking on the part of the rest of them.

I would love to be doing a weekly preview but the odds are that for those leagues that try to force a season it is going to be a giant disaster.

There is no way that college football can maintain a bubble like the NBA and NHL are doing. We have seen even with a semi-bubble that MLB has had games cancelled and some talk about eventually having to abandon the season. MLS has had issues as well.

Football involves larger numbers of players and associated support staff, coaches, officials, etc. in a game where players are literally sweating and breathing on each other.

It is going to be interesting to follow how things go with the NFL but they have a smaller number of teams with a smaller number of players and vastly more resources to throw at the problem. They also are professional players who are under much stricter control of the teams and are not living on or near college campuses with thousands of students being college students around them.

There's a 50% chance I watch Austin Peay and Central Arkansas tonight.
Have (20) Navy playing against BYU in the only game on the schedule that involves what I would consider two decent BCS level teams. We have Memphis and Arky State and Southern Miss against Army but most Sun Belt teams would get beat by the better FCS programs.

If we had the real season other than the Buffs beating up the sheep we would have had USC against Bama (supposedly a neutral site but still in SEC country,) Notre Dame - Navy and some B1G conference games.
