Tad has something to sell. We played one of the best teams in the country tight for four of six halves. We were a much better team than our record reflected - we just couldn't quite put it together. The returning players will be better with another year of experience. There are no significant losses. And one of the top recruits in the country is coming in. Add a few players, and CU could be very good next near. We are not that far away.

Of the three transfers, Lovering is a loss. But he is replaceable, and we can likely upgrade. CU should be an attractive place for transfers that want to play, and want to win.

This. The most upsetting part of the LL transfer is not that we can't find a replacement, but that one of the best parts of following Tad's teams is seeing the 4 year players consistently improve over their careers.

We played 11 guys last year, redshirted 2. The 5 who left were all of our net negative players based on advanced stats other than Hammond.

We're adding (with the redshirts), 1 5*, 2 4* and 2 3* to our rotation. We will also add 2 more guys, most likely transfers with proven college production.

I'm more enthusiastic about next season than I was a week ago.

I really appreciated the consistent effort from Lovering. Definitely frustrating moments with him, but he played his ass off. F*ck the "fans" that couldn't see the effort that kid played with.

Utah. Wonder if Lovering was unhappy with his 5‘ 6” big man coach at CU? Hard to imagine why.

Wonder if Dalton Knecht can play D. Seems fairly athletic and is definitely a scorer.
Holy sheeeet. I saw this was like, "HE'S THAT GUY?!" My son and I commented during that game that he was absolutely OWNING us. Wondered why he was at UNC. He and TDS were by far the best two players on the court that night. Noice.

It will be fun to track Lovering’s remaining basketball career. There are definitely differing opinions about him as a player, which will be fun to see who eats crow at Allbuffs.

I’m firmly in the meh camp, so I am prepared to ridicule or be ridiculed next year.

Tampering!!!! That happened WAY too fast!

I guess it’ll be okay to yell insults at him now when he’s playing here.
Yeah, this seems to belie the “fans were mean to me” tale. Utah sold him on something and he bought it—no way this happened over just the last few days. Good luck to him, he went to a worse program.

Also, hope this tampering pisses Tad off and he treats Utah like he treats USC.

I’m pretty sure Lovering played AAU with some Utah guys and likely knows the coach well from his recruitment. Throw in that his Dad can drive to games and I’m sure it was always his next option.

I think of Spencer Dinwiddie and how he plays both off the ball and sometimes as the primary ball handler depending on lineup and sets.

He can focus on getting the team into offense and setting the table for others or be called on to be a catch & shoot guy.
Spencer D is a good example. The way I look at it is, can a guy run both the point and play off the ball equally as well? Spencer can do that. Believe it or not, there are not many that can. I'll just leave Joker out of it, he's a unicorn. :D

On average, we're going to add 3 guys a year. That should be a guard, a wing and a forward. Considering that wings can handle a bit and both our wings & forwards should be shooters, I'd definitely shade the guard signings towards PG skills rather than SG skills.
Sorry, but which of our wings could handle the ball well?

Man, LL didn’t even patronize us with an “and with that said” statement. I feel disrespected! But it doesn’t sound like he and daddy had the cajones to even speak to Tad first.

I’m finding myself to be a little bitter here because I’ve been really pulling for this kid from the day he announced he would be a Buff. And then to sign with Utah? Double slap.

If Boyle was really surprised by Lovering transferring, that's the most concerning aspect yet I've read if this situation. I perceived personnel management as being one of his strengths.

The level I'm talking about is being able to dribble off an outlet or steal to push the ball up the court. In the half court, to be able to score off the bounce. I'm not talking about breaking ankles here.

I'd say all of our wings could handle reasonably well. It's something that I think TDS, LOB and Hadley all need to work on this offseason.
