2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

Yeah, there's a huge difference between 6'1", 195lbs and 6'1", 185 lbs.
****, I thought Longstreet was a lot bigger than that and

For those who didn’t know (like me). The transfer window opens on Monday 12/9 and closes on 12/28.

Players have to enter the portal by 12/28 but do not have to commit by 12/28.
officially opens, for all intents and purposes id assume its open right now as i doubt players will jump into the portal blind, most of them will have a good idea of what the market is like, both in terms of potential suitors, playing time, role and of course financially.

Just wait and see where Fifita decides to play next year.

This was on Coaching Carousel tread, and topic is better suited to this thread. My response is updated.:

I had the exact same thoughts last night. The Tucson papers summed up the season a complete disaster and Brennen's seat warming. Can McMillan go pro, or is he required to stay in CFB one more year--it looks like McMillan is a JR and headed to NFL. If he were to stay, I would love McMillan at CU and it could be a package deal with Fifita. I'm 50/50% on Fifita working out at CU. He is gamer, has experience, but on the smaller side. Prime and Co. would have to put some thought into this, as to whether they have enough to protect smaller QB's next season. Juju (more talent but True Frosh) and Fifita (more experience w/ less talent) could be a decent 1-2 punch. kNU started Raiola last season as True Frosh, and his numbers really tailed off the 2nd half of the season--probably the long season and pounding just took it's toll. kNU won only 1 away conference game against Purdue.

Another Cat to keep an eye on is Tacario Davis (CB). He looks NFL bound, however had injury problems the 2nd half of season. If he cannot combine well, he might decide to portal and play an extra CFB year in getting healthy. It could be risky for CU, as he could be injured through spring and/or fall ball and only get healthy very late, then decide to shut it down.

I'm also keeping an eye on Washington and USC. UW was 6-6, but 0-5 on the road. They were blessed with 7 home games. I anticipate considerable TP movement at UW given the new staff and middling results. It would be weird, but Fifita and McMillan, if he were to stay may do a package deal reuniting with Fisch. Who knows?

USC appears to be a dumpster fire, HS recruits bolting, and I see some good players bolting into the Portal. Duce Robinson would look great in CU gear. This is the LA Times scorched earth job on Riley (fun read):

If we were talking baseball or NHL trade deadline--like the Rockies, it think USC is a seller, not a buyer. Even if they have unlimited NIL, the program is stuck with Riley mired in downward trend with uncertainty. Riley seems out of touch coach and close to either being fired or heading to the NFL. Miller Moss entering the portal today is not too much of a surprise. He will land somewhere, however CU may not be the fit as Prime does not like quitters, yet there will be two sides to this story.

It’s fair to assume we’ll take a QB from the portal with some experience as insurance if Juju takes a bit to make the step from HS to college, right?
I would think so. But, finding a player who is willing to act as a babysitter, when he knows the real QB is JuJu, but is still good enough to win some games is a tough nut to crack. Anybody good enough to win games is going to want to start the whole season.

What about Destin Wade and Walter Taylor? Are we just writing them off? I thought they were brought in to back up SS2, but neither played (at least that I saw), we went with Staub. They are not better than Staub?

Both appear to be very inaccurate passers.

Yes, we are writing them off. Expect them both to be gone as transfers.

They are JAGs. Staub is light years better than them.

So do we think Staub stays? Is he the fall back if we don't get a vet through the portal to be a stopgap, just in case QB for JuJu?

I think Staub knows his role as a career backup. I don't see him leaving.
I think Staub is actually capable. If disaster were to strike, he would not be a bad back up. It would be good to get a solid vet for a one year rental, especially if all the QB's are leaving (Wade, Taylor, SS2).

Both are way worse than Staub.

He won't graduate from CU. I think his options are stay next year, prove himself as the #2 with a decent chance of getting significant playing time, then transferring out for a starting opportunity next off-season, or go to a smaller school now, build his stock for 2 years, then try to get a payday as a 5th year senior.
