I mean, losing out on elite recruits never looks good, but to say it makes them look incompetent is pretty harsh, IMO.

If their plan B is significantly worse, then yes, I would say incompetent fits. Their current QB situation probably cost them 2-3 wins alone this season.

Spit balling - it gets clear word out to other elite kids what the program is willing to pay. So if they missed on him, the could get interest from someone else. It looks like it worked, so maybe the ends justify the means?
Hopefully these deals are multi-year, backloaded and with an out for the team:
(1) some QBs drafted in the 1st round in their 20s never make it. Not to mention high schoolers.
(2) year one is still a bit rough for the best of them. Shedeur is so much better now than at Jackson State. It’s a dev year at best.

My only issue is I wish Bryce would have announced today . That way each player could have had the whole day to be the top person talked about. When Bryce announced a few hours after Ju Ju it seemed kind of like - oh yeah well look at me. No issues with the money he’s getting though. Good for him.
