Signed to other '25 MI QB Bryce Underwood

Dave Portnoy basically said he'd pay whatever it takes to get Michigan an elite QB. I assume he's funding most of that. Going to be hilarious when he sticks with LSU
Even more hilarious if Underwood does head to Michigan and then hands the ball off 35x a game. Michigan will have a new coach in another 2 years either way.

I would rather him flip to Michigan, be a bust for a year or two, transfer and then ball out.

That way, it ****s Portnoy and the kid can still make it to the league with his transfer redemption arc.

IMO, one of the worst things a program/NIL can do is totally overpay for a True-Frosh QB, unless their last name is Luck or Manning. Last 15 years, IMO only two guys have I ever really felt were can't miss in CFP QBs: Winston at FSU and Cam Newton via Juco. They were both men playing boys--6'4" 230ish, can run like a deer or truck w/ huge arms. CU and Matt Stafford story, after 3 Q's of a putrid performance CU chased Stafford out of the game, only for their frosh to beat us 14-13 in GA. In these days, Stafford may think he's benched and head to the portal. Look how many QB's MI went through or Ohio State too for that matter...?? Perhaps, if it is not guaranteed money. I guess if donors have funny money, then a program just does it; however the transfer portal always seems robust with experienced QBs these days.

Isn’t a Manning currently overpaid?

Why did Michigan leak these numbers?
Do you really think it came from Michigan? These players have representation that know how to negotiate. The kid says he wants to go to LSU, but wants more money. Let's get Michigan hyped up and offer us more so LSU can counter and get us where we want to be. LSU doesn't seem to have problems with money and doesn't like to get outbid.

At the very least, I think Michigan has made the attempt to flip him very public. Not sure I really get the strategy.

More likely it makes your coaching staff look incompetent.
How so? He’s the number one overall player that also happens to be a QB. They’ve been recruiting him for a long time and are tossing around record NIL offers. Kid wants to go to LSU 🤷‍♂️

It’s more ironic to me than anything. Michigan’s style of play is exactly what won them a Natty just last year, but it’s also a ****ty offense and style for elite QB prospects.

Very possible that it is an attempt to show the big money boosters that they are "doing everything they can" to get back to elite level.

The big money people aren't know for patience and understanding. They got their NC last year, they expect to be winning again, and soon.

Right now they aren't even ranked and even in some wins have looked bad. From the outside we can understand why (lose a great coach and a whole batch of talented players to the NFL,) but they want results now for their money.

With the way some of these guys are it wouldn't surprise me if a third loss doesn't result in some calls to the Alabama AD demanding "something be done."

Even if Underwood has made it clear he isn't coming doing something like this at least shows that "they are trying."

You think that coaching staff comes off looking good in this saga? Going all-in for a QB and whiffing is pretty bad, especially considering their current situation at QB.

Not much tougher in any sport than being the guy who follows a college coaching legend or great coach. No matter what you do unless you win multiple championships you will be compared negatively.
