Bowl Games (other than ours) and associated silliness 2024 Plus the Playoffs

Get bent, Asshole.

TNT is the best hope for the Big12 and ACC to compete.
If ESPN is already worried about its ability to pay the SEC contract, and TNT needs inventory. Blend the best of the Big12 and ACC on TNT
Prime, Dabo, Belichick
ESPN will tip its hand soon with the ACC option it has to pick up

Bama, Ole Miss, CU and likely others >>>> SMU

In mega conference era, SOS then SOR really, really matter along with power ratings.

GC and overall losses must be examined against good wins both qualitatively and quantitatively.

The Committee will learn.

Watching the FCS semi-final game at the same time as this **** QB fest on TNT (YouTube TV multiview ftw). No hyperbole, Cam Miller is better than both of these guys in the FBS playoff game.

This game and last night's have reignited my fury over stupid bowl tie ins. I think the big 12 is the most underrated conference in college football. But CU doesn't get to play the SEC or ACC or big 10, we get butt ****ed into playing another big 12 team.

Imagine us playing Ole Miss or Alabama or Miami or Illinois or South Carolina. Literally anyone but another big 12 school. At our best we could beat, or at least be competitive, against these two teams today, or Indiana and Notre Dame.

I mean, that's probably true, but nothing has happened up until this point that is surprising to me.
I think, neutral site, average performance, 27-17 might be on the nose for Notre Dame / Indiana; I think SMU is better than the scoreboard today, just an outlier of a horrible performance from their QB.

SMU is definitely better than this, and PSU definitely not this good.

This game goes to show why getting that home game is important for some teams

I interpreted your comment that ND would be in the final game. Of course they should have advanced.
I think they're going to be there. Georgia has a QB issue. Penn State hasn't done anything well here outside of taking advantage of SMU's mistakes, and there's no need to waste time talking about Potato State.

Did Jeanty have something bad to say about not winning the Heisman? I must have missed it.

If so, **** him.

We have gone over this issue before.

One of the appeals of college football has always been that you could argue that the champion was the team that was best that year, over the course of the year.

It is very hard to argue that a team with 3 losses, even to good teams, is the best that year.

The comparison is to the NFL model which makes no pretenses of worrying about who was best in the regular season. The regular season is about getting into the playoff and positioning yourself for homefield advantage. Thus you end up with teams that were a 6th seed wild card winning the Super Bowl, like the Giants team that beat the Patriots team that had gone undefeated through the regular season.

In my mind it is hard to justify a 2 loss team playing for the NC much less one with 3. Just cheapens the whole thing.
I feel like I’m the only other person on the planet that thinks this. Ergo - hate the 12 team (and expected expanded) playoff.

*i.e if we would have somehow snuck into the B12 CCG and won, then made the playoff, id still think this was a total joke. No shot were anywhere close to the top 4-5 teams out there.

If you're purely looking for the "best", "most competitive" and "most compelling" matchups I think you have to go full SEC/B1G invitational and have 6 auto bids for the SEC, 5 for the B1G and one at large for the best non-P2 team. Or just do a SEC/B1G play in, who gives a **** if there are more games, more revenue. Hold it in Saudi Arabia, too, and just have PIF buy 10% of both conferences.
