Bowl Games (other than ours) and associated silliness 2024 Plus the Playoffs

For sure. But if USC is going to be great again, it's about the run game. It's when that program has top RBs and an OL which can go forward that it gets scary good.
I actually disagree with this, respectfully. I have never understood why schools try to hire a coach based on past success. E.g. Wazzu or Hawaii hiring Air Raid/Run n Shoot coaches pretty much exclusively. Why does past success indicate future in such a variable driven sport? Hire the best available coach you can feasibly get.

To your point on USC specifically, if they get to a point where they have a great ground game, it’s simply because they are pulling guys out of their home regions (OL from the south) which will generate a ground game by default. They just need someone who can get those guys, but the offensive scheme doesn’t matter imo.

Quite a few great bowl games this year, too bad the first set of playoff games sucked.
I don't know if "great" is the best description. I've seen a lot of sloppy football, of teams playing without key players, of dropped balls and bad tackling.

There have been a lot of games with dramatic swings in momentum, with spectacular plays mixed in with less than outstanding play, with huge individual performances.

In other words it hasn't necessarily been good football but it has been fun football, entertaining football, even some of the games with teams that aren't very good.

The only real blowouts and boring endings have been in the games you would least expect it, in the playoff games.

This also is their best ticket to being successful in the league they are playing in.

And having great RBs and a line that can dominate the LOS doesn't mean they can't or won't throw the football, only that the running game will make it much more dangerous.

It's easy to dump on USC for how bad they are playing, which they are, but gotta give credit to the aggies tonight. They are making plays and dominating the LOS. And I hate A&M...

Maiava really is ass holy **** lol
This. He’s awful. Reminds of Daniels a few years back. Highest rated QB coming out of Mater Dei but he was just too loose with his throws. Or the Tennessee transfer we had under KD. Plenty of arm. Athletic. And awful.

Edit: Shrout. Weird that both my examples were named JT.

USC (just like OU) is fvcked. They’ll be mid for a while. Both programs were cocky af and bit off way more than they can chew.

Their record has said they have been mid for a good number of years even though they are one of the most recognized names in college football.

Under Pete Carroll they dominated the PAC and in 7 of his 9 seasons finished in the top 5 in the polls.

Since he left (2010,) 15 seasons including this one they have won 10 or more 5 times been .500 or less 3 times, won their division 4 times, and finished ranked in the top 5 once. None of this shouts that this is a dominant team.

Now they are in a league with a number of schools that take winning football games much more seriously than schools in the PAC did.

USC should just go all-in for Urban. The 3-4 years would be ridiculous.
