I know they have to make rules for this kind of thing but to advance because the other team got covid or to not be able to advance because your team has COVID blows and is going to make this years tourney probably have an ** or two by a few teams.

They're in a zone, he covered the low post guy when the ball went to the left side.

His one job was to slide between the wing and the post there.

It was a tie game. If he didn't deny that post entry Cuse gives up an easy 2, instead of a 3 attempt with a late closeout.

From the ACC guidelines:
Pursuant to CDC guidance, a team member identified through contact tracing and required to quarantine must complete one of the following three options after consultation with local and state public health officials:

 Quarantine can end after Day 14 without required testing;

 Quarantine can end after Day 10 without testing and if no symptoms have been reported during daily monitoring; or

 When diagnostic testing resources are sufficient and available, then quarantine can end after Day 7 if a diagnostic specimen tests negative and if no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring. The specimen may be collected and tested within 48 hours before the time of planned quarantine discontinuation (e.g., in anticipation of testing delays), but quarantine cannot be discontinued earlier than after Day 7.

The MAG notes that the CDC has identified all three options for safe exit from quarantine but understands that each jurisdiction will evaluate its comfort level with each option based on local circumstances. As a result, the MAG accepts differences between jurisdictions do not present safety concerns while acknowledging that local and state health departments must be consulted. The MAG will update its guidance in this area if the CDC guidance changes.

Basically, 7 days for contacts, if they're asymptomatic and testing negative. Unless, local authorities (presumably Indianapolis where tourney is going to be held) have more stringent standards.

It's going to require UVA being scheduled for Saturday's first round games, and having no more positives.

For all the "worst possible way for a season to end" comments, the worst possible way for a season to end would be a serious case of COVID for a coach that is fatal or debilitating or a severe case of COVID for an athlete that requires a long haul recovery, or a chain of transmission that takes out a family member. As much as this week's games have reminded me how much I miss normality, COVID hasn't stopped being serious.

ACC guidance basically says, we don't want to call on court interaction a contact, but local authorities might.

Institutions must follow contact tracing protocols as dictated by their local and state health departments. Pursuant to current CDC guidance, prolonged close contact is defined as contact within six (6) feet for at least 15 minutes. The group acknowledges the difficulty in applying this CDC definition to sport; however, local contact tracing procedures will govern the application of this definition to student-athletes and their interaction in sport. If the CDC provides greater clarity to its guidance for close contact in sport, then the MAG’s guidance in this area may also change.

I sort of get that the huge airspace, and intermittent nature of contact might make it confusing, but heavily breathing players running through the airspace makes it seem like it should be a close contact in my mind.
 
South Florida up 1 on Wichita State with under 2 minutes left. Wichita's resume is pretty weak, so a quad 3 loss here may knock them out.
 
Just wait- I feel pretty darn certain that at least one feasible championship team will have to bow out of March Madness mid-tournament with a positive test.

So, I guess NCAA's workaround is you only need to have 5 available players.

I wonder if the committee is going to drop UVA and Kansas seeds because of this?

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia Athletics recognized the Tom Dean and Tony Markel Men's Head Basketball Coaching Endowment before the men's basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 9 at John Paul Jones Arena.

Two people (Dean and Markel) created an endowment for the basketball program.

Academia is littered with odd titles like this, leading with Dean in the title makes it confusing because Dean is an actual position.
