Beating good teams is hard, beating the same good team twice in a season is much harder.
I'm about 90% that Saban had part of his small army of QA guys dissecting UGA for the better part of this season and figuring out exactly how to exploit every possible advantage they could find, and the result is what we saw yesterday.
The big thing Saban has purchased with his group of QA guys is time. He simply has more "football expert" man hours to throw at other teams. While your typical opponent has X expert hours analyzing how best to beat you, Saban has X + Y.
And it's not just that he has a bunch of analysts that other teams don't, he also gets late season games against the little sisters of the blind where he can divert a big chunk all the entire staff's time to picking apart the big upcoming opponents.

I really hope Arky and aTm get crushed in their bowl games (ranked with 4 losses) while Minny, Wisc, ASU, and UCLA cruise to easy victories (4 losses, not ranked). It is too bad the bowl system dictates none of these teams play each other.

Yep, I waited and waited for their front seven to go off. Problem is, it never happened, thanks to Bama's o-line. That and their QB. If he doesn't beat you with his arm, he'll definitely do it with his legs. I'm rooting for Cincinnati but it's a tall task indeed. I think they'll run out of gas eventually, probably mid to late third but we shall see.
Saban will find Cincinnati's weakness and just beat it to death. Because of the different level of the athletes it will be almost impossible for Cincy to adjust.
In full conspiracy theory, I wonder if it’s the other way around…Saban has a secret side hustle where fired coaches pay HIM (using their buyout money) to get on his staff as QA, knowing how most of them turn out.
I agree with that, he's infamous for it. If and when that happens, probably when, Cincy's guys shouldn't hang their heads over it. Hell, they got to where they wanted to be, no matter how much they want to win of course. They'll be disappointed, sure, assuming they lose. They'll look back on it as time passes and see what they accomplished, though.
And if they get blown out, the committee will be like “see what happens with G5? We told you”…even though OU and others have proceeded to be blown out as well.
I don't disagree, however they will be without their leading receiver Metchie (in receptions) and their best corner in Jobe
And will replace them with future high draft picks.

Bama got stuck going with Devonta Smith who won the Heisman and Jaylen Waddle who had he not been injured may have been better than Smith.
If there is one thing that we can all be sure of it is that when you are talking about talent drop-offs with Bama most schools would love to be "dropping" to that level.

Woah. To summarize, if a team is unavailable to play in a CFP semifinal due to covid the game will be a forfeit. If both teams in the same semifinal are unable to play then the winner of the other semifinal will be declared the national champ
I’m very surprised they wouldn’t postpone the game because reason$$$$.
According to the release it says they will postpone the national championship game up to the 14th but the semifinal games will just be a forfeit or no contest
You can't have "the best football team" if you can't actually field a football team.
It would be the most appropriate CFP finale ever, imo.
Both teams in the other semi unable to play. Cincy wins its game by forfeit. National Champions.
