CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

The better path that is being discussed is to discard the NCAA completely for football, because they are essentially responsible for the settlementand so many other problems and weird decisions.
The CFP is no better than a Saudi Arabia type tournament at this point, and with all the underlying fairness issues with NIL and these unbalanced conferences, there is likely a hard reset in about 3-5 years. With the Buffs kicking rocks and sputtering now, CFB is in real suckitude right now

It probably deserves its own thread, but serious congrats to csu on the move to the pac. They have a strong foundation of 6 schools now and a legit chance at an auto bid for the new conference. I bet Stanford and cal are kicking themselves now although the idea of Fresno and Stanford in the same conference is hysterical to me.

I think college ball needs 5 legit power conferences to spread the power out from the sec and big. And perhaps create more optionality for the next round of changes… you do have to wonder who the next 2 adds for the p12 will be—- the problem is there just aren’t that many programs left that would help their case for an auto bid. I wonder if they try to pick off 2 or more from the big 12…

The chaos continues!
Wait you're arguing that big 12 schools are going to leave to go back to the pac-12.. aka the glorified mountain west?

In all seriousness here, the big winner here might be the service academies and the American......if they're smart enough to go grab Air Force. Army and Navy are in that league in football already, so joining the American would allow Air Force to do whatever they want with their OOC. The American has rivalries that draw they can point to-really something other the power leagues would have. Those games draw-doesn't matter which two service academies are involved. Air Force is a brand for the level they're on in my view-and ESPN agrees. That's how they got opportunities as an at large to play and beat Baylor, Washington State, and Louisville in bowl games.

You understand that the 4 team CFP had no guarantees for conference champs while the 12 team CFP includes autobids for 5 conference champs, right?
Any FBS conference champion as long as they are one of the five highest ranked.

Theoretically a P5 champion could still be left out if a G5 champion is higher ranked.

No, TWO G5 champs would have to be ranked higher, because there's a P4 now, not a P5, and the best 5 conference champs are guaranteed to make the field. @Bison was quoting someone who argued that one rep from each P4 conference would always be in. @Bison responded with an absolutely idiotic question of how often the Pac was left out of the 4-team model, apparently not understanding that 1) the 4 team playoff automatically excluded AT LEAST one P5 conference and 2) with no guarantees for any conference champs, it greatly increased the odds of being left out as well.

In the 12 team playoff, 5 spots are reserved for conference champs. There are 4 "power" conferences. Two G5 leagues would have to have champs higher ranked than one of the P4 champs in order to steal a spot. Is that theoretically possible? Sure. Is it anything even remotely approaching likely? No, and the central point becomes even less likely when you know that even if it happened, the "left out" P4 champ could still make the field as an at large.

/rant over. I need some coffee.

I'm going to say you're going to far.

it's not out of the question that this year the five autobids to go SEC, B1G, XII, Pac12, American.

signed in despair,

fan of an ACC team
Well it was just 1 game but Miami looked gooooood with Cam Ward running the show

If there is going to be a Paws versus Hoofs division, the next two schools will need mascots with hoofs.

How many votes does it take to dissolve the big12? The acc? Do it, go from p2 to p3 and be done with it.
West Division: Utah, BYU, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas Tech, California, Stanford.

East Division: Boston College, Syracuse, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Duke, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Miami

It’s not a bad conference. Subtract one or two on both sides and off we go.

The whole thing is rigged. Its skewed towards the big properties and diminishes the lesser properties. Whats happening now (conference switching) and whats next will make this even more lopsided.

We got here because the NCAA didnt have anti trust exemption and lost the power to negotiate TV rights for ALL.

What will probably happen soon is the end of march madness which will be replaced by something the super football programs want for their suspect basketball programs. Which is a shame because march madness was the most egalitarian playoff that people watched.

No that's worse than me having Baylor friends. They went from the MWC to the MWC with a different name and theyre bragging about it.

They're all muted until we kick their asses on Saturday night.
Dude, you just said CSU fans - who are annoying but harmless - are worse than Baylor fans who cover up rape and want to send us back hundreds of years.

Go take a lap. Or 30.
