CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

I think UTSA is in a better position than a lot of people think. After merging with UT Health San Antonio, they are on track to be AAU accredited.

The sales team that I work with has been doing a ton of project-based business with UTSA over the last year or two, data/communications connectivity additions and upgrades…probably not related, since this stuff can be out dated by the time the switch is flipped on after installation.

There is no way that the CFP could ever continue with the stupid format it currently has.
Cannot have a G5 team in it moving forward beyond the current agreement.
The PAC12 should consider forming a League of its Own and work on its own G5/FCS Championship

One G5 team in a 12 team field is perfectly fine.

It's kind of a reward to the highest ranked at-large bid to get a G5 opponent at home to feast on.

If we get to a rational point where there's like 60-70 teams max at the top level, then you can form 4, 5, 6, heck 8 conferences or divisions and give each champ a bid.

With the current delusional field of 130+ teams, giving one playoff spot to a G5 team is valid, it's basically leaving out one of the losers of a game like Okie Lite / Utah or Michigan / USC this afternoon. None of those teams in the #10-#15 range are undeniably deserving a crack by a mile more than the best of the rest from the smaller conferences.

A G5 team plays a G5 schedule against lesser teams week after week, so what have they done to earn that level of credit
If there is a Super League, then the CFP is over because it becomes an NFL playoff to a CF Super Bowl, that is my point
There also likely will no longer be cupcake games anymore, it just does not add up for the biggest possible TV deals

Sounds like we mostly agree, but for now a G5 absolutely belongs in.

It will give the possibility of classic games like Boise over Oklahoma in the BCS era.

Cinderellas are fun, and so long as they're supposedly in the same level they deserve one measly #12 seed.

Being the best of 60 odd G5 teams is roughly as impressive as being the 12th best P4 team. Sure, 75% of the time that 5th best SEC team will beat the G5's best but it's not some chasm between the teams like it would have been to put an undefeated G5 into a 4 team playoff.

TV loves a Cinderella. In a 12 team field, one G5 team is more than fine.

Just a quick side note from an earlier discussion on the Mountain West Conference: Last year, the NCAA increased the fee for a school to jump from the FCS to FBS from $5,000 to $5,000,000 and they must sponsor 90% of allowed scholarships in a minimum of 16 sports. So, if a school like Montana wants to make the jump to FBS, it will be operating at a huge deficit based on the initial outlay for the NCAA fee and annual scholarships. Presently, the MWC delivers around $5 million per school annually in media money with the four schools that are leaving. There is almost zero chance UNLV remains much longer. I have a hard time seeing the TV money being more than $2 million per school in a reconstructed MWC (if they can even get that). I just don’t see the juice for most of the FCS powers to want to move.

Three divisions.

One "premier" or whatever you want to call it. Full scholarships with stipends for all sponsored sports. NIL pools, etc. Minimum athletic budget, stadium, attendance, etc. Possibility of "relegation" with failure to maintain minimums (no direct relationship to on-field/court performance).

One "traditional." Full scholarships for minimum number of sponsored sports - NIL on individual level. Opportunity for schools to move up via a combination of performance, attendance, and commitment to minimum budget.

One "small school." Equivalent to current FCS. Minimal "fee" to move up, but will have scholarship costs.

Have to figure out the rules for moving up a division for individual sports, but should be doable.

Gonzaga is joining the Pac 12. They still need two football members by 2026, but Gonzaga is going to get a full revenue share, according the McMurphy, which is wild considering they don't have football.
