How about $5M/year directly to Tad's NIL fund? The Big12 is going to have to pay a fee to Coach Prime and the Buffs for propping it up on the Football side of things

Nik, the CFB landscape is changing really fast and we are not in the Big Tent, we must get into that tent.I'm not sure how I feel. On the one hand, I feel like it's fair that a member of an association that drives the revenue for the entire association would get a financial bonus or larger share of the pie for that. On the other hand, I don't want to start acting like Uterus and Condom folks.
A great way to kill any athletic conference is to allow one school to get more concessions and revenue than everybody else. see: Texas.
The whole goal of our membership in the B12 is to jump to the next stop. We need to kill the current form of college football if we want to continue to compete with the power two. **** um!A great way to kill any athletic conference is to allow one school to get more concessions and revenue than everybody else. see: Texas.

Totally agree, but according to Full Ride this morning, they said that if the entirety of FBS football banded together, and negotiated one TV deal for everyone, everyone (including the SEC teams) would make more. They believe that the real competition is the NFL.This, this, then this
The Big12 is going to die and become a basketball conference honestly
I am totally convinced that there will be a 48-team League, that is it, that is what the TV execs want, it fits best with the NFL, NBA, MLB
SEC with 24 Southern teams and B1G with 24 Northern teams with the Wild wild west
We are the king of the Mountain Time Zone and it is worth every dollar to make that happen
Hell, I would pay Prime $20 Million per year right now if he would commit to 3 more years minimum
This is worth Billions to CU, or we will be out in the cold, seriously considering dropping football
I listened to some pretty important TV Execs that said that over 48 would actually be diminishing returns, cause even if you started splitting hairs at 49-66, those are not that popular of teams that would really help the numbers. 12 Divisions of 4 teams, or 8 Divisions of 6 would be very very sellable. Also including the G5 has no long term value in Football, in fact, playing the next 48 teams in a second division would be more valuable than a combined situation.Totally agree, but according to Full Ride this morning, they said that if the entirety of FBS football banded together, and negotiated one TV deal for everyone, everyone (including the SEC teams) would make more. They made an interesting point that if they start to whittle it down to just the P2, interest in the game will wain and they will be killing the golden goose.
I thought that the reference to the NFL was really interesting. I know a lot of football fans that would rather watch a NFL game than a college game especially if it the game doesn’t necessarily involve a team that they are a fan of.
I hope that they are wrong.I listened to some pretty important TV Execs that said that over 48 would actually be diminishing returns, cause even if you started splitting hairs at 49-66, those are not that popular of teams that would really help the numbers. 12 Divisions of 4 teams, or 8 Divisions of 6 would be very very sellable. I agree that the idea of turning off parts of your potential fan base, but if you have the country pretty well covered, and there were to be two divisions that have equally intriguing and competitive rules, it would be pretty cool.I hope that they are wrong.
Isn't that why everyone hates Texas? Didn't they want a bigger share?I do feel like TV Ratings Bonus pools should be built in to these contracts
The bad cows are milking the good cows
Maybe they couldn’t afford a new floor

Agreed, 2024 was the Car Crash watching year, and we have settled in a bit, but still stronger than half the B1G and SEC without being in any really really big games. Our 2024 average viewership is nearly half that of 2023. Long term we are nowhere near #3 in that hypothetical B1G (above Notre Dame, lol)
That makes sense.I listened to some pretty important TV Execs that said that over 48 would actually be diminishing returns, cause even if you started splitting hairs at 49-66, those are not that popular of teams that would really help the numbers. 12 Divisions of 4 teams, or 8 Divisions of 6 would be very very sellable. That is the Rub, the B1G and SEC are protecting some crappy brands because it also helps in their minds to get 9-10 wins a year and you need some easier wins to do that. 12 tough games would make the Alabama's, Georgia's and Ohio State's nervous since they might lose some games. If it was a true and honest assessment of the top 48 brands, period, there would be a few that would be removed from consideration from SEC and B1GThat makes sense.
When CU plays a Big 12 team (basically schools in that 49+ value range), we pull about 3M viewers. That's a 50% to 3x bump over what those teams normally draw. When we play a Nebraska or even a non-rival team which would be solidly in the 48, we're going to draw at least double those numbers.
I do think that to get to the most valuable 48 that it can't be just B1G $ SEC expansion to 24 teams each. Because both of those conferences currently have members that are not among the 48 most valuable properties.
2023 included conference games against, USC and Oregon to go along with Nebraska, TCU and CSU, the latter two mostly being a product of first year Prime viewing. Our 2024 average viewership is nearly half that of 2023. Long term we are nowhere near #3 in that hypothetical B1G (above Notre Dame, lol)
They would pull wayyyyy better numbers, way better. If we played Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, and Penn State in one year, holy smokes2023 included conference games against, USC and Oregon to go along with Nebraska, TCU and CSU, the latter two mostly being a product of first year Prime viewing.
If Prime-led CU were in a B1G or SEC super conference where a third to half their schedule was against brands like USC, Oregon, Nebraska, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Washington, Wisconsin, Iowa, etc. CU would still be pulling similar 2024 average viewership numbers.
I don't know if the schools and fans care that much about the measure of a good season becoming 8 wins instead of 10 because every game has become a real competition. I think it's more going to come from coaches who are worried about expectations and job security while schools & fans adapt to that new standard. That is the Rub, the B1G and SEC are protecting some crappy brands because it also helps in their minds to get 9-10 wins a year and you need some easier wins to do that. 12 tough games would make the Alabama's, Georgia's and Ohio State's nervous since they might lose some games. If CU was in the B1G right now, a standard schedule might be: USC, Purdue, Northwestern, Rutgers, Penn State, Iowa, Oregon, Minnesota, Nebraska (this is Wisconsin's conference schedule). They would pull wayyyyy better numbers, way better. If we played Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, and Penn State in one year, holy smokes
I think the high end on most of those is likely, depending on the game time, and I firmly believe that a 48-team College League would be very smart to look at going after Tuesday and Wednesday nights if they are smart. I actually like the idea of being in the SEC, and then have one of our permanent crossovers being NebraskaIf CU was in the B1G right now, a standard schedule might be: USC, Purdue, Northwestern, Rutgers, Penn State, Iowa, Oregon, Minnesota, Nebraska (this is Wisconsin's conference schedule).
That would be four conference games that would likely have somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-8m viewers (USC, PSU, Oregon, Nebraska) and another in Iowa that could easily be in that category as well. Also, given our ratings against mediocre Big 12 programs, I would think CU vs Minnesota would still get 2m+ viewers.
