CU players in the NFL

This could go in the "Prime Effect" thread. I'm not in Colorado today and tuned to ESPN radio while driving. For the show I caught, the CU pro day was the topic for an entire segment. That's insane for a team that went 9-4, didn't make the playoffs and only has 2 guys who are priority draft picks. Love it!

ESPN had live reporters at the pro day as the lead story and theme of the NFL Today show. Interviews with Prime and Shedeur and I think with Travis although I didn't watch all of it.

It was almost a commercial for CU football.

It is true that they only have 2 priority draft picks but those 2 may end up going in the first 3 so that is newsworthy.

After this commercial break, Shedeur’s pro day/draft status is the next Sports Center segment.

Decent article in the Denver Post today about the attention Will Sheppard is receiving after Pro Day.

Not surprised. He had to show he was fast enough, but I was certain his catch radius athleticism was going to be pretty elite.

The dude put up good numbers for a terrible Vanderbilt team that gave Walter Taylor snaps…against the SEC

He’s high level

I think Sheppard definitely solidified himself as a draft pick.

Wester maybe sneaks in and hopefully BJ Green too

Btw has anyone seen anything on a potential watch party for the NFL draft? I thought Shedeur and Trav said they were forgoing attending the draft to do something in Boulder with the fans

I don’t know if this true or not, but seeing some buzz that the 9ers have been quietly kicking Shedeur’s tires. Skeletor Jr. would be a pretty nice cube coach for Shedeur…
I still don't think he gets past the Raiders at 6, so someone is going to need to trade up ahead of that pick. 49ers and Steelers would make the most sense, imo.

Shedeur with McVay or Shanahan are the two ideal situations with Kellen Moore and the Saints a close third, IMO. I actually like Stefanski a lot and the story of Shedeur bringing back the Browns franchise would be fun, plus they have a roster that I think gives him more support than most people think.

Personally, I think NYG is the worst case scenario. Going into a toxic QB room with Russ and Jameis, a really, really bad overall roster, a GM who doesn't know his ass from his elbow, and a HC who was promoted because of his work as OC in Buffalo and wasn't able to elevate Daniel Jones at all.

Wild card is Pitt. I'd like to say that's also an ideal situation due to the roster quality but Tomlin hasn't shown an ability to develop QBs and having Arthur Smith as OC is an even bigger turn off.

I thought Horn would run better.

Shilo is fast enough for the position, but it comes down to how he does on other things (read, recognize, react, use technique, have proper footwork, take the correct angle). Basically, that's acceptable speed for Safety but he doesn't have plus speed for recovery to cover mistakes. Lots of guys taken from Rd4 on are like Shilo - less than the complete package, nothing physically off the charts - and some end up being excellent players for a lot of years.

Horn did run a 4.35-4.38 at CU's Pro Day. He probably gets drafted.

I think the Raiders feel like Geno is their answer. TBH, if he gets in the 7-9 range, I could see the 9ers make a move without losing too much.

Steelers would be a dream. Stable franchise and not super QB friendly but Roethlisberger did ok obviously. Also they’re probably my second favorite franchise and I liked them growing up since Kordell played for them
Bradshaw and Roethlisberger is pretty high up for franchise QBs among NFL franchises and their histories. Not many can top that.

Great ownership leads to a very stable situation where players and coaches can thrive. A Big Ben type career would be great for Shedeur. A couple of rings, some pro bowl selections, retire wealthy. Not a bad deal.
