Deion Sanders - HC Jackson State

All this is doing is hurting team building and unity. It's creating doubt in 18 and 19 year old kids that just made their biggest decision in their lifetime. If CP wants to help CU and not himself..... shut this **** down CP

Not at all, but I do agree with a few of those statements and y'all would be lying if ypu dont.
I can assure you that I'm not lying when I say I haven't reacted that way at all. My entire reaction is that Coach Prime is teaching another masterclass in media manipulation, keeping himself as a major topic of conversation on all platforms at a time when he and CU are irrelevant to what's happening until we reach NFL Draft season.

Your right, but if I was a kid about to sign with CU I would seriously be wondering

I think this is an interesting take. I do not agree with either point and actually think it will do the reverse. I am sure he has had conversations with all those that need to know and he wants to be a part of the program. Culture and unity seem to be all in the right direction. He just hired a rock star, by all accounts, as the Strength coach. Portal has been good. Recruiting has been solid.

My point is that this keeps Coach Prime and CU in the spotlight. What is the story he tells recruits, families and what will the press say when he makes it known he is staying in Boulder and signing a new contract?

Story becomes he is here for the long haul after his kids have moved on. More press, more coverage, more light on the program he will bend to his own uses. That is what Prime does.

Just tell the truth. This has nothing to do with the recruits. You simply don’t want to lose Prime and just want him to make you feel better by signing an extension and putting the NFL talk to bed.

It’s ok. I want that as well.
I just hope we are winning enough every year for Coach Prime to be brought up for every high level job opening. No contract, buyout terms or statement by CP stops this. Do we really want it to stop? Seems to me that it serves our interests to be in the media cycle and for Prime to be able to work it while privately telling recruits and parents that he's not leaving Boulder for any other job & why.

He doesn't need money and I don't feel this is about money.
I think it is about the total operation and all the other Staff and Support group.
Cost of Living is high in and around Boulder, and Prime is making life for all the staff and players better by everything he does. This is why he will not leave, because it truly could hurt a lot of people that you cannot just fully replace in the NFL. Are you going to fire or change every single staff member that is currently working in an NFL franchise

relax i dont understand GIF

I also wouldn’t be surprised if all this helps mitigate any pushback from the Board of Regents over approving the extension.

What do people think the terms are for the contract in front of CP?

If I was RG I’d try to make Prime the highest paid college coach in America.

In what world has he earned being the highest paid coach? He’s a really good recruiter but he hasn’t had the #1 class, or even a top 15 overall class, since he’s been here.

He’s not the best offensive or defensive mind.

Hasn’t won any championships.

He is the best for brand elevation. But other than that, what else? We can offer Prime a very good contract, make him the highest paid coach in the Big 12, without jumping to extremes like the highest paid coach in America. Let’s win a big 12 championship at least, then we can discuss

He doesnt want to shut it down because people are talking about him everyday. You cant buy that kind of exposure. He will run this till this weekend and I would not be surprised if it is announced late Sunday or early Monday to get national run for the NC game.
This. Prime gonna help jj out with an interview, they will be the talk of the nfl during playoff weekend, then come Monday they announce Prime’s contact and he’s all the talk during in nc game. That’s how Prime rolls, masterclass in marketing.

Value is entirely relative. The amount of money he has made CU, the amount of publicity and attention on the University, the uptick in recruiting, the sponsorships, the product on the field, the Heisman trophy, the top 3 draft picks, etc are far more valuable to CU right now than what Prime would bring LSU, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, etc.

I would argue that he has very much earned being the highest paid coach in college football for a program that seems to fancy itself as back to competing for championships. Also, pretty much all coaches (and players in the NFL) get contracts based on what they've done in the past instead of getting a contract for what you believe they will do going forward. There should be an element of that at play here, IMO.

Revenue increases to the AD and to the university at-large more than justify the salary level being discussed.

I know that in my job and probably most of your jobs, pay scale increases are mostly a function of P&L performance.

You are not paying for just a CFB Coach

You are paying for a Coach ($10 Mil), a GM ($2 Mil), a PR Firm ($1 Mil), and Social Media Presence ($1 Mil) that is unmatched

Adding to that is market value. If you're making a certain wage and other companies would offer you more to hire you away, that results in a significant pay increase if your current employer wants to keep you.
