Eric Bieniemy - OC Kansas City Chiefs (NFL)

You appear willing to excuse the drop in production for KC by pointing out extraneous factors while ignoring the extraneous factors present in Washington.
Hmmm. It's almost as if there's some other detail that is making him apply his analysis in an unequal way.

Commandos have worse talent this season and outperformed that talent. KCC got worse with mostly the same talent.
Worse how? Their key losses were jd mckissic, Heinicke and Wentz. Every other starter/contributor was back and they added depth on their oline.

2022 Washington averaged 9 more yards/game but 1 point/game less than 2023 Washington. They weren’t good last year with a **** roster and there was slight improvement this year with essentially the same **** roster.

EB has long been a HC candidate but nobody thought he was integral to the Chiefs offensive success. In the first year without him as OC in 5 years, their offense looks really bad.

It’s not just about what he’s doing, but what KC and Mahomes are no longer doing that suggests he was an integral part of their success. That will get GMs to inquire

That's how you judge a coordinator: did he get the talent he had to play to its potential? The answer for EB is a definitive yes.

So Rivera is fired
Harris is bringing in outside consultants to redesign how the Commanders operate
What now for EB?
He gets ready for HC interviews
Where does he land?

chargers would be ideal, IMO. Lots of offensive talent in a mediocre division.

I could see him as plan B to Harbaugh
Was the move to the Commanders positive, negative, or neutral?
I feel like it was good to get away, but not sure if he has any more cred or is in any way a hot candidate
Crazy comment here, but what if EB was hired by Prime for our OC?

Well, that's a huge comedown. From being mentioned for most HC jobs in the league to a RB coach on a bad team that is likely to be changing staff in another couple years.

I believe you are confusing the Bears with a different Bears team. They have a QB, a defense, good WR and need an OL and coaching refresh to win. Johnson was the hottest HC in the NFL the past two seasons.

EB is a fantasic RB coach.

No question that he is a very good RB coach. As to the Bears winning I will believe it when I see it.

And dropping from OC of a SB champion and HC candidate to RB coach for a loser is a big drop no matter how you try to dress it up.

You know he wasn’t even in the league last year, right? I agree on the recent trajectory overall, he’s at least back in the NFL, which is obviously a better fit than college.

I don’t see the new Bears staff getting a short leash, with them getting Johnson, their top target for HC. The ownership sucks, but the organization seems stable now with Warren involved, and there are plenty of worse teams and worse situations EB could have ended up in.

I think his choice of UCLA after Washington hurt him more than anything. That was going to be a tough assignment regardless.

Hell, he’s 56 years old. Maybe he wants to cut back and concentrate on stuff he knows he can succeed at anywhere.

I think it’s a shame he never got a HC gig. Maybe he would have sucked. Maybe not. We will never know. I think the ship has sailed.

I think you are right that his time to get a chance as a head coach is gone, and it's strange that as many jobs as he was "officially" included in the hiring process that not a single one hired him. There must have been something there more than the color of his skin that excluded him but it would take a very strong argument to convince me that his race wasn't a factor. A lot of white coaches with much less resume have gotten jobs, sometimes more than once.

He is a great hire as a RB coach and his experience would lead one to believe that he may end up with more input than most RB coaches have.

Chicago is going to be tough. Their ownership isn't the best and that division isn't going to make things easy for them anytime soon.
