CFP committee just handed Saban’s team the motivation they needed to buckle down and really focus the rest of the year.

I like a lot of the logic from the CFB committee. You don't get ranked below a team you beat. You get rewarded for playing a tough schedule. Didn't penalize a program like ISU for its historical prestige and the conventional wisdom on them in the preseason. Right like it should be, especially for the initial ranking. Now they'll shuffle based on who beats whom and whether they control their games.

Peterson complaining isn’t a good look, IMO. Don’t play a garbage OOC schedule and don’t lose to ASU. I also like how he pumps up UW by saying they been at or above average. Lol

If they had won more life championships they might get more respect.

Who does he think he should be ahead of????? Ugh. Hey Pete...you lost to ASU...in an ugly way....a team that just got whacked by a USC team who was embarrassed by Notre Dame. Washington does not belong in the top 10 IMHO...

He’s throwing a fit about being ranked 12th? Comical. They've lost twice, their season is toast at this point. I could maybe see his point with Wisconsin and maybe Miami because neither have beaten anybody. But to openly question the rankings is a childish and lame thing to do. You’re insulting the kids on the other teams by publicly saying how much better you think your team is. Can’t disagree on the time slots though, we all know those blow.

I can't really find massive issue with the rankings. I like that Miami and Wisconsin are lower, Miami can right the ship when they play ND in a couple weeks, but Wisconsin playing an OOC schedule of Utah St, FAU, and BYU makes Bill Snyder blush. And then the only B10 team with a pulse they play is a really down Michigan. Pathetic.

They’ve lost once and are ranked behind 7 P5 teams with 1 loss. While Penn St, also 1 loss, has looked very good their best OOC win was against a 5-5 Pitt. Granted their loss was to OSU not ASU, but you get the point.

My take on the CFP is that if you are going to play a ****ty OOC, plan on going undefeated or you leave things to chance. Schedule one marquee game in the OOC and you buy yourself some wiggle room to get in with one loss.

I get where Peterson is coming from, his real message is about the late kick-offs and not the rankings. He has been vocal about the late kick-offs and is using this as his platform, it's a short platform given Washington has 2 losses, but that's what he's bitching about. #Pac12AfterDark

Apparently the late kickoffs cause people to not realize they are 7-1?

Let us all be clear that Washington has only lost once. Unfortunately, that loss was to a mediocre ASU team, and their wins have come over Rutgers, Montana, Fresno, CU, Oregon State, Cal and UCLA. If they were undefeated, then they’d be right there in the conversation with Wisconsin.

It comes off bad IMO but there is some merit to it. Their OOC isn't as bad as people (ESPN) want to make it out to be but overall you just can't lose to ASU on the road like they did. To blame it on late kickoffs is dumb too, this is a committee that is committed to watching games and putting the right teams in, not just a bunch of east coast fans who don't stay up for games.

Yeah.....if your best win is Fresno State, you're right where you deserve to be. I don't really have any beef with these......probably would have had Miami where Clemson was just because Miami is undefeated and Clemson is not, but I think if the 'Canes win their next two....they'll get there.

I thought I read somebody cancelled on them the last two years (Wisconsin?)

Miami also hosts #13 Virginia Tech Saturday night. They're undefeated, they're in.

Fresno State is tied for the lead in their division I believe, not a bad OOC win or a cupcake as ESPN would like for you to believe.

Petersen came off like a little bitch in that statement.

Even if they did deserve to be ranked higher (they don't), that statement sounds like something a high school sophomore would write to the school paper about the powder puff football game being cancelled.

Miami's last 4 games have all been one score wins against 4 opponents whose combined records are 11-20. If Wisconsin is going to be penalized for not playing anybody, Miami should be in the same boat for their performances.

With respect, I have a hard time believing this quote is from Chris Peterson. The only place I've seen this is on that random guys twitter feed. I don't see any reference to an actual media link and cannot find anything in Seattle news reporting about this quote.

The language seems off as well. I can't believe he would say these things. If he did then fine but until I see a link I am doubtful that came from Coach Peterson.

Look, it is what it is. The Huskies lost a close game to ASU. They are not undefeated and will frankly need help to get into the playoffs.

Further, we have yet to play a single game of November football. There is way too many games left to play. UW needs to worry about Oregon this week and the rest of the games this month. If, and this is a big if, they win out... then we can ponder about who is deserving. If they don't make it they don't. As a Husky fan I'm just thrilled to have a great coach and good team again.

ESPN was giving UW a mini smear job earlier in October so I'm guessing somebody put this out there to further belittle UW. The ex-players from the Big X in particular seem to have an axe to grind.

There is only so much you can do with scheduling. When Rutgers was scheduled they were two years removed from a Conference Championship team (Big East). Who knew that as of Nov 1st Rutgers would have a better record than Florida St? You just really never know when games are scheduled in advance. Wisconsin did chicken out of a series but the first game of that one was scheduled for next year.

I remember all too well when the Huskies were in the Willingham years that they were scheduling OOC way too difficult. UW was one of the final 4 teams in the NCAA who had never played a football FCS opponent until a few years ago. Now they seem to have an SEC style cupcake OOC and they're called on it when they still play 9 conference games?

Whatever. When you lose you don't control your own fate. There is nothing to complain about.

Some of the teams ranked higher have better OOC opponents. Some don't. I don't think personally that Penn St's OOC is any harder. Ohio St. played OU but that really is a "quality" loss if we're going there. Who has Oklahoma St beat? I have a hard time with the Big 10 love over Pac 12 love on ESPN when historically the conference champions meet in the Rose Bowl and the Pac wins 2 of 3 of those games over the past few decades. Many of the ESPN analysts are players from the Big and they begrudge the Pac for some reason. I know Desmond Howard is still hurt about getting so thoroughly humiliated when playing against UW and losing to them in the Rose Bowl some time ago. I simply don't watch ESPN anymore.

Anyway, who really cares about the first rankings? UW doesn't have anything to complain about at this time. And quite frankly they've suffered far too many serious injuries IMO to make much noise in the playoffs. They're down their best linemant (LT) for the year, they've lost both starting cornerbacks, their top two TEs and a couple receivers. While they have depth they're lost too much offense to make a huge run IMO. The defense is nasty and fun to watch, and that is what many of us UW older timers appreciate - dominant Ds.

I hope a Pac team can with the national title soon, because until they do they will continue to be perceived as a weak conference.

Blue collar productivity? Petey is a whiny little bitch. Why not reference apple pie and Mom?

Conference strength does not seem that relevant to the committee.
I think they look at is it will take care of itself when they play the games. If you’re in the SEC and miss Bama, Georgia and LSU but throttle Arky, Vandy and Tennessee (life championship not on the line) its not the same as a team going 2-1 vs the first set of teams.
