First CFP Rankings

The wisdom of good programs beefing up their OOC scheduling is becoming more and more apparent.

One thing to keep in mind about ND if they win out is how much ground will they lose sitting idle on the last weekend while other contenders are playing their conference championship games.

How much ground are they really going to lose?

With their schedule strength, they will be fine if they win out, and deservedly so.

For all the talk about scheduling and who has played who don't forget that this thing is still a creation of TV.

They will figure out a way to justify it with on field results but if things are close what are the odds of the decision going to the team that draws big ratings?

It will take a significant argument to keep ND, Bama, Oklahoma, etc. out of the playoff. Wisconsin and Washington could be very good teams but all things being equal I doubt they get an equal shot, they need help to get in.

Yup, that could be the impetus that finally gets ND to join a conference.

If they join a conference before 2027 it can only be the ACC according to the current deal they have in place with the ACC.
If a GOR will hold up to legal challenge. Very hard to show that there were actual damages unless ABC/ESPN reduced its contract with the ACC, which isn't gonna happen.

There’s no precedent to suggest the CFP Committee bases their rankings off TV ratings. It’s weird that you continue to push that narrative.

Let's say #5 OU at 11-1 beats a top-10 OSU or TCU team to win the Big 12 championship. Then a 12-0 undefeated Wisconsin beats Ohio State to finish 13-0 and Big 10 champions, no way an undefeated Big 10 champ gets left out. Don't you think a 1-loss Big 12 champion coming off a win over a top-10 jumps over ND? I do.

Granted this is a specific scenario which sees an undefeated UGA losing to an undefeated Bama in the SEC Championship, but my point is that the potential is there for ND to lose enough ground on CCG weekend to fall out of the top 4.

I do not see an OU victory meaning that much. Their Ohio State victory might not look impressive come December.
