I can't recall a single time in the 30 years I've gone to games where a player was hurt because of the short sideline. I'm sure there have been some injuries but likely nothing major otherwise there would have been a big stink about it.
We had a WR around 2010 that ran into the wall during the spring game and got seriously injured. That's all I can recall.

Any renovations have to include widening the concourse around the stadium, even if it's only above the student sections. The jam ups that happen both there and in tunnels 4 through 7 are really dangerous. From my seats I watch the students get caught up in it right at kickoff and it seems like they can't move for about 10 minutes. I really worry what would happen if we had to evacuate quickly.

I know it would involve removing seating, probably from the student sections, but I personally feel like it should be priority number 1.

That's tough because I think the log jam really starts where you go in and out of the stadium underneath the seats. Not sure if that's the concourse or if the concourse is the loop that you can walk within the stadium and either go up or down to the sections. Widening the inside loop is easy by just removing one or two rows on the top or bottom sections. But the tunnels underneath would be tough because then you have to deal with structure I think? I'm no engineer so maybe it's easy.

No I agree. By the concourse, I meant the inside "loop". That would definitely be easy. The gates/tunnels I'm assuming would require a complete rebuild.

Could there be a top Walkway around the top of the stadium, where they put the Ribbon Boards? It would be great to circulate up and around the top, and have restrooms up in the tops of both SE and SW sides

Entrances are always going to be the bottleneck for ingress and egress. Unless you are doing a major renovation of the upper deck it is difficult to fundamentally alter how people get in and out of the lower bowl. Widening the walkway ring is helpful but it is a change in standard operating procedures that could help make the student section safer.

Classroom and office space is already at a premium on campus. It would be difficult to eliminate more without a wider plan to address the need. Last time I visited the department I graduated from the graduate students were at least 6 to a single office. Any remodel of Folsom will have to include addressing wider campus needs and integrating them into the design.

If you are closing in the NW corner of the stadium, you can easily put some classrooms there. Essentially, any offices that are currently in the stadium could be relocated to the new NW corner facility.

Aside from that, those classrooms and offices are minimal. More of a nuisance at this point. They haven’t been moved because it’s too much of a hassle to move them. If you want to add capacity and open up lines of movement, tearing all that stuff out makes the most sense.

Just fence off Colorado between Folsom and Duane/Benson. Problem solved. No need to demo anything. It's not that hard.

Above they are talking about congestion issues around the exterior of the stadium, particularly on the south side. If they just fenced across the street that would alleviate the congestion concerns entirely.
They are talking about the congestion that happens in the tunnels between the outside and inside concourses and then all along the inside concourse above the student section. At peak times like right before kickoff and end of game, it’s an absolute mess through there and is a major safety concern in the event of an emergency.

Ah, misunderstood.

They should just add some stairs to access the top of the 200 sections from the exterior.

I don’t recall having any WRs in 2010
TBH

If there was a human body at WR, they 100% were uncoordinated enough to get hurt running into a wall.

He was only 8 yo then and living in FL, you will have to excuse him.
I forgot how memorable our 2010 season was.

That must have been one of your favorites.

Nothing screams Colorado Buffaloes football quite like a 5-7 season.

CU has a perennial national championship contending ski and cross country teams.

Some investment in those team's assets to maintain that level seems warranted.

Maybe they already have world class facilities -- I don't know, but I'm now curious.

When they removed the track, lowered the field, they added those 6,000 seats. I would give up say 3,000 of those to gain 10 feet on each sideline if possible. A fully renovated West side and wings on the NW and NE can get 10,000 added for a cool 60,000

Maybe give CU more room on the sideline but definitely not the opposing team. Keep those seats where they are and make things uncomfortable over there.

I actually was going to suggest that because more seats on the West, mostly out of the sun is better, but can you by rules have different sidelines?
