Les Miles - Former HC OSU/LSU/Kansas

Injuries are no excuse for RG to keep him.
Howell did a good job of pointing out that while the numbers 9+4 more were thrown around for injured players in the presser, the true number is more like 4+1 significant injuries and Bounds leaving the team is more like it.

Do not open that door and let that excuse in!!!

All the specialists that have filled in deserve a ton of credit! We are getting as good or better ST performance than in 2016.

And Rakestraw is coming on strong
Agree completely, and the injuries excuse looks even more pathetic if we lose to Utah who won their last game despite their starting QB and RB being injured.

I’d take Durkin before Les Miles.*

Need youth, energy, innovation and, above all, leadership.

*Kidding, but you know what I mean.

Ironic point if Les Miles is hired folks.
His son Ben is now at Texas A&M
He has 3 years of eligibility left in 2019, 2020, and 2021
The Buffs play Texas A&M in 2020 and 2021!
At least he gets to see is son play.

My number one question about Les would be what sort of offense is he going to run. We're simply not built to run a more traditional offense like he ran at LSU and unless he can work a miracle I just don't think we can recruit at the level we'd need to for a traditional pro-style (if you could call it that, LSU had a surpisingly lackluster run of QBs under his tenure), at least not in the near term. The transition would also likely be a disaster.

Les Miles did talk about running more spread football than traditional formations.

sounds like a private jet left Kansas for Baton Rouge .... Miles might be off the board ...
Eh... debatable where the plane is. Some KU folks reported it had a western heading after it took off. The tail number is blocked, so it can't be tracked.

think so ....there is apparently a 60 page thread on the 247 Sports KU board ....don't know much else about it and any validity of events

He did just buy a new home in BR, but also rumored to have a 2nd home in Colorado.

They all got wound up about tracking N412KU which is not an actual plane. The real tail number is N414KU which can't be tracked. They are all listening to air traffic control in BR waiting for the call sign.

Quick, file a Freedom of Information Act request!

Good point...I'm thinking it'll take him 1-2 years to get a good OL which is all we need really...and a RB...okay, that's a lot...lol...

I hear it just landed in Broomfield. Let them know.

If you believe what KU fans are saying, the plane is probably carrying a few cases of fresh hats... According to them, the LM to KU deal was sealed weeks ago.

I'm not buying it.

What’s considered a long term solution in college football? Gundy, Dantonio, Saban, Whittingham type situations are so few and far between. Chris Petersen, James Franklin, Dabo, Paul Chryst are on their way to being 10+ year guys with their programs but realistically, any coach young enough to coach for 10+ years, probably isn’t staying at CU for that long anyways. Either getting fired or hired away in 4-5 years are the likely scenarios. Basically, I’m not worried about a “long term solution” at HC for 7-10 years from now, but rather 1-4 years from now.

Michigan State had Saban and couldnt keep him. Nobody stays anywhere these days longer than just a few years if they're worth poaching.

Miles had some pretty strong recruiting classes and that seems to be one of MacIntyres troubles. He's likely very well connected in the coaching world to reel in a few good assistants. Fruit from the Bo Schembechler (who himself was from Woody Hayes) coaching tree is probably a pretty good bet. Bill McCartney was.

It may have already been mentioned or discussed, but what is the relationship between Bill McCartney and Les Miles? Are they still close friends? Would Mac potentially help ask Les to come and make the program great?
The resources and opportunity is here for a guy like Les, and the division is not that daunting that you couldn't be back in the PAC 12 Title game.

Doesn't Les have another son who plays for the Nubs?

Good god the hard-ons some of you have for Miles.............I don't have a problem with interviewing him, but he shouldn't be handed this job.

I think he did when Pelini was there.

No accident that we see the loyalty within a coaching tree. One son with Jimbo and another with Fedora right now. That speaks well to his relationships within the coaching fraternity.
