Official 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread - How safe is Kevin Sumlin´s job?

Illinois keeps Cubit on a two-year contract. They must have a ton of confidence in him.

Foster was on the short list for the Illinois job, with them keeping Cubit, Foster staying makes sense.

Wow, that was fast.

Some VT booster has long had damming pics of Foster. It's the only explanation of the last 15 years as he's expressly stated he wants to be a HC yet will not budge no matter the fit (grew up and went to HS right near Champaign).

there was once that Foster turned down a notably better position to stay (DC for Spurrier at UF) that I'm aware of. he's interviewed for HC positions multiple times without getting an offer --- he can't close at the interview and I don't believe is HC material. Great DC, hope it' true he's staying.

Thanks. Win win for Va Tech.

Apparently Frank was able to negotiate Shane Beamer staying on as well. I'm a bit surprised and wonder how wild Fuente is about having 2 key spots already spoken for. Either a stroke of continuity or a recipe for trouble (and I don't think I have orange & blue glasses on).

Now he's going to Iowa State apparently. Not sure what happened with Mizzou considering that's the far more attractive job.

Campbell to Iowa State is going to get done it looks like....Mizzou looks bad. Don't know if it's that great a job.....yes, mack rhoades is a very good ad (he hired tom herman at houston)...but there's all the social justice BS going on at mizzou and interim president/chancellor....I wouldn't want that gig right now, but I wouldn't turn it down to live in ames, either.

If I'm Mullen, I get out of Miss State now. It's gonna be tough sledding there next season without Dak Prescott at QB.

He looked like a guy on his way out. There's been increasing chatter about Maryland around here (UA factor I assume, because Maryland football is the epitome of lame)

Ian Rappaport said that USC has already expressed interest in Chip Kelly, but not to rule him out reuniting with Mariota in Tennessee.

It's my understanding that Dykes is really, really happy at Cal and that it's a great fit for him and that he never wanted that stupid Stanford job anyway.
