Official 2016 Coaching Carousel Thread - How safe is Kevin Sumlin´s job?

I have said it before and I'll say it again. Richt would take CU to very good seasons. And we would all take that, right now. He will never get CU a ring. Be it conference or national. We would be happy with him for about 4 years. Then, the natives will get angry about not getting the ring.

I would take him right know but you have to understand what you are getting with him. He can't win any game that matters. I think he would be an upgrade from MM but his ceiling is defined.

As far as I'm concerned, right now the game that matters is the one that gets CU into the Beano® Light-My-Fart Bowl in Peoria, IL.

Yes. At this point, it's ridiculously arrogant of CU fans to be wishy washy on the idea of Richt at CU, because he supposedly "can't win a big game".

Sounds great to me... sign him up.

You convinced me. Let me be pissed in 4 years that we lost to Washington State for the second time in 2 years in the Pac 12 title game and I'm tired of playing in the Pacific Life bowl.

Agree about Richt over Miles (but I'd take either).

I think he would be a better coach in the style of football that is played in the PAC.

Money plus he's a FSU guy. That just doesn't seem like a fit.

Richt was a QB at Miami before coaching at FSU, so he has ties to both. I don't think he ends up at either place..

'Mark Richt (born February 18, 1960) is an American football coach and former player. Most recently, he was the head football coach at the University of Georgia.[1] Richt played college football as a quarterback at University of Miami. His previous coaching affiliations include 14 years at Florida State University where he served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and one year as offensive coordinator at East Carolina University, and 14 years as head coach at the University of Georgia.'

I don't think richts offense would be a fit in Miami. He would definitely consider it if offered though.

Richt went to Miami buffnik, not an FSU guy just coached there at one point in time.

Coached at FSU for a decade and was a graduate assistant there prior to that. Miami alum, but possibly stronger ties to the FSU program. Of course, none of that really matters since he has also been exposed to the wonders of colorful Colorado. Only question is when will the press conference be.

Once you've been to Broomfield....

UVA fans are drooling over Richt. They were after him very, very hard in 2001 and nearly got him. Richt does his own thing so who knows what he wants right now, but he could walk into Charlottesville and find a relaxed Athens in which all he has to do is win 6-7 games. If he wins 9 a few times he's a legend. If they get Tony Bennett on the phone and start talking about "pillars of faith" with him, look out.

I'm personally surprised to not be hearing more about Sonny D, unless I missed something. UVA would be a better fit for him than Cal and he is capable of doing at UVA what Fedora is at UNC. UVA's associate AD "football GM" loves to scour the West for coaches (football assistants, hoops, you name it). Anyone can walk in and immediately have this as a 6-7 win team off the bat.

Either would be an upgrade, because they add instantaneous status to our program, a status that gets both Recruits and Assistants attention. Something HCMM can only get once he's rebuilt this program to quite a bit higher level.

And not sure they would accomplish it for sure, but they'd get us more talent, quicker.

Miles has always struck me as a dumbass. How do they not have a good offense at LSU? He's had several OC's all flail awfully. That's a concern, because it's been something so obviously wrong, and not addressed despite the talent and resources.

Richt always seemed smart and CEO polished.
