Official Construction Update Thread

Some information about the expansion

Keys:

3000 less seats, so folsom will sit roughly 50,300 this year.
One loge box almost accounts for all lost revenue from those seats.
Stadium construction is still on schedule to be completed by the opener.

They also said that the deck in the NE corner will add back some capacity. Does this mean that it's going to be an open seating/standing party deck?

progress 8-21.JPG

Red: Grading and leveling. Not sure if they will resurface this with concrete now or if that is a later phase.
Orange: Landing/Handicap seating has been poured
Green: Stairs have been framed in, awaiting concrete
Blue: Support beams are now done and curing. They have pulled the form work off of a lot of it.
Yellow: Form work for wall or beam, not sure at this point.

Should be worth checking the construction came later tonight when they run ralphie for the freshmen.

I like how they put the students where they should actually sit on gameday. Makes for a lot less social media, but at least they know where to go now

Did they also force them all to squeeze through a single line to get in?

Man, they are making progress. The rake beams are stripped. The deck behind them is in place. I assume that deck is the floor of room spaces under the bleachers. I also am thinking they might be using precast sections for the bleachers, but don't know. The north end zone was cast-in-place. But the north end zone was on dirt, pretty much. The end zone almost looks ready for the seating to go in. The loge boxes are almost done. Wow.

Mortensen's two week look ahead sucks and is way out of date. I wish it had more detail to boot. Instead of "Concrete Work/Equipment Operating/Excavation", I wish they'd be specific. I'm sure they have a detailed two week look ahead used for construction management. Show us that one.

The Party Deck at the new University of Houston stadium is already sold out for the year. They also got $15M over 10 years for naming rights (TDECU). Any more discussion about a naming deal for Folsom?

It's been quiet on that front. I was thinking about that the other day and I actually want to wait on naming rights now. This project is financed. Revenue will increase with the new seating, growth of the Pac-12 deals, and (hopefully) more wins driving higher attendance.

Let's increase the value of brand association with Folsom. Then, RG can use a naming rights deal as a lead "donation" for the Balch/West/NW renovations we desperately need.

Scaffolding going up for what appears to be the final beam necessary before the seats go in on the NE side. Might need a cross beam like they have on the opposite side.

Touchdown club finished and all cleaned up. Can't wait till they put the seats in.

Scaffolding going up for the southeast bleachers. I think there will be some dramatic progress this week.

I will be over at the stadium tonight, not sure how close I can get to the construction but I will at least get a different perspective on the work. I will let you all know if I see anything particularly interesting.
