"Really good defense" against atrocious teams & a Rising-less Utah
Yeah, I think jury is still out on them. Aranda is a good defensive coach so I’m sure they’ll be schematically sound, but they were getting torched against Utah when Rising was in there. Gave up 6.2 ypc (19 carries) to Utahs RB1.

My primary concern is they generated a good number of sacks against very few passing attempts. The OL is getting another stress test on Saturday night.
Ok they also played Tarrelton St & Air Force, two horrible teams. Against the only decent team they played they were trash.

CU looked like crap against NDSU. CSU is a horrible team and CU should have easily put up 40+ points. Neither win makes me believe the Oline has solved any problems. Bailer might not have Nub Dline, but they are going to be way better than whatever CSU and NDSU have.

CU didn't look like crap against NDSU, it took about a quarter, quarter & a half to get going, but they definitely didn't look like crap. An 80.3 PFF grade for the game is not crap.

NDSU did nothing in the 2nd half outside of 1 drive. OL has definitely made progress with the changes they made last week. These are some really ****ty front 7 grades against Utah.

This has been addressed elsewhere on this board. No, they don't.
They have played crap but a lot of advanced metrics have them as a good defense. ESPN fpi has us as the 70th best D, and Baylor at 39

Other websites have them in the top 20

An Aranda team is going to have a well coached defense and be game managed to support the defense.

Just accept that, folks.

The key for CU to control this game is to make them play from behind and force them to open up their offense. My biggest concern is that we start slow and let them hang around in a field position battle.
