Other games weekend of 8/31-9/3

Navy was supposed to be decent this year.

Maybe Hawaii is better than we thought, which means......

Tanner Mangum was at the same Elite 11 camp as Jameis Winston.

Mangum's a senior, Winston's going into his 4th year in the NFL.

BYU cracks me up.

Yeah, I feel like when you have guys on your team that have to take their kids to elementary school, you're toeing the line of the idea of a collegiate athlete.

This guy is redshirting at BYU this year.

Hawai'i needs to petition that their remaining games have no 3rd quarter. Navy knocking on the door after a fumble recovery, could pull within 10.

What the hell is Arizona's offensive coordinator doing?
You build your scheme around your players, you don't try and make them fit your offense.
Anyone with half a brain understands that your offense should be predicated on Tate's running ability. How can they be this stupid?

Amazing how many people defended Sumlin, dude looks as incompetent as ever with one of the best QBs in the country.

No. Nothing to back that up. He's a great football player. He isn't a QB. He plays QB, but he's not Lamar Jackson.

Sumlin is doing him no favors by trying to make him play like a QB.

BYU looks infinitely better coached than Arizona.

Arizona looked like the Keystone Kops on that punt return.

Bit contradicting, never said he was Tom Brady. He plays as a QB, if you can't use him properly in that role, don't blame the position title.

Basically, asking him to beat someone with his arm is never going to work out for Arizona. The gameplan should be if the first or second read isn't there, take off, but Sumlin and his OC seem to be committed to the tried and true method of ruining a players' effectiveness by trying to change the way they play.

It’s crazy because the success that really catapulted Sumlin into stardom came with his Johnny Football teams at aTm. You would think if he could do anything well, designing an offense around a running QB would be it.

Johnny manziel was more of a scrambler than a runner. He was still a pass first qb. Tate is a glorified tailback. Pity tate whined about the navy coach voming to az, he’d be a better fit for his offense than sumlin’s.

Tate probably isn't helping the whole situation with his coaches wanting him to be a passer because he too thinks he's a passer and seems desperate to prove he's more than an athlete. He's hung in the pocket too long several times tonight when he could have and should have used his legs.
