As someone with a background in marketing, I generally think of "polarizing" as good. It causes discussion and makes you relevant. Boring is bad marketing. Didn't cross my mind that some would see it as a pejorative. I was thinking it would draw eyeballs and argument, though (even if just from lurkers getting pissed off or put off balance).Sorry to be that guy, but any chance we could change the thread title to "Prime is Polarizing (In a Good Way)" Worried about drive by idiots taking it the wrong way. Again, maybe it's just me...
This is true. You have to have a certain personality to deal with Coach Prime. Not every SWAC program could handle Prime. Southern and Grambling, no. But Jackson State was perfect. Passionate fanbase but thriving for success at any level. They had a large number of supporters. They had an era. For them, it was Walter Payton time period. Very prideful. And they were more flashy than their counterparts and like the glamor and the gold. The more we see the reaction, the more I think Coach Prime was a better fit for CU than most P5 schools. Like I posted on one of the other boards, CU boosters and fans wouldn't care if Prime was purple, sprouting antennae from his head, and speaking in tongues if he gets us a couple of winning seasons. We have our own bull**** challenges, mostly related to the admin and the academics, but not a lot of that other really toxic BS he would have to put up with at a lot of other schools in the South or at "blue bloods".
It really is fascinating to read some of the takes on neutral forums or other school's boards. Coach Prime really seems almost like a human Rorschach Test with how differently people perceive him. Its also been a bit of a lesson in inherent bias with a lot off people seeming to just assume he can recruit but not coach and dismissing his success at the FCS level as simply out talent-ing teams, while ignoring the fact that he has roughly the equivalent level of experience and success as Jim Harbaugh when he was hired at Stanford.
Willie is a tremendous coach especially offensively. He was a QB at Clemson and even coach there some.Yep, it does make you wonder how much talent is being ignored. I'm pretty intrigued by the rumors that we may be trying to convince Willie Simmons from FAU to come be the OC.
Our greatest success was with Bill McCartney, who was about the farthest thing from shy when it came to expressing his feelings on social issues or preaching his faith or taking on norms. We love that. Lots of "oh sh!t" moments, lots of heat, and lots of times we disagreed with Coach Mac, but there's not a more beloved figure in CU football history. What many of us are feeling is that Coach Prime is bringing something familiar to our glory years. It works here. This is true. You have to have a certain personality to deal with Coach Prime. To take in Prime ain't for everyone. He has extreme confidence that could come off as cocky. He is a straight shooter which could come off as mean. He is extremely crafty and loves to preach which to some could come off as fake. But for many due to his personality, how much he cares for people and his willingness to wear so many different hats, he's transformational and for those people, he's everything within his space of course and seen in an extremely positive light.
I get it from outsiders who may be jealous or spiteful. But when I see **** like this from "Buffs fans" it pisses me off. That's the soft, weak, loser mentality that's infected this program for years and needs to be eradicated. Which exactly what Prime is doing.
Edit: I don't know if this guy is on this board, but sorry not sorry. This is garbage.
It could have been for just about anything.A long time ago and he blocked me. Can't even remember what for.
When Coach Prime brought up Boulder being "safe" in the presser and his address to the team it really brought back flashbacks to Coach Mac and how he understood the environment many of our recruits were coming from and wasn't afraid to acknowledge it and talk about why Boulder could be the right choice for many kids. Our greatest success was with Bill McCartney, who was about the farthest thing from shy when it came to expressing his feelings on social issues or preaching his faith or taking on norms. He mentioned, "virtually no crime" twice. Once when speaking to the team and once in the PC. Definitely stood out to me as wellWhen Coach Prime brought up Boulder being "safe" in the presser and his address to the team it really brought back flashbacks to Coach Mac and how he understood the environment many of our recruits were coming from and wasn't afraid to acknowledge it and talk about why Boulder could be the right choice for many kids.
Whoa, tap the brakes there, amigo....This is going to be more beautiful than the Flatirons.
I had my mountain bike seat stolen once, so I am going to have to disagree with you there...He mentioned, "virtually no crime" twice. Once when speaking to the team and once in the PC. Definitely stood out to me as well
Well, his office was broken into on his first game. His car and his son car was broken into. And one of his recruits he was recruiting locally was killed at a local party. Unfortunately, there is a lot of poverty and crime in Jackson, MS.He mentioned, "virtually no crime" twice. Once when speaking to the team and once in the PC. Definitely stood out to me as well

Speaking of racism.......how many African-American coaches are there in the Pac 12 right now? One. Prime. Who is the only power 5 program to hire three African-American football coaches in a row? The University of Colorado under Rick George. We're remiss if we're not taking shots at the Pac 12 for this too.Yes it is going to be ugly and racist. And Prime knew that when he got into this. I am glad we aren’t in the cesspool of the big 12 anymore as the number of pure out and out bigots is much higher. I think most of the really awful shots fired at us are likely to come from the sec and such.
embrace the hate, tune out the noise, and watch this happen. I like the universe better when fans of the football superpowers are bitching about Prime and us. This is justice.
I don't need to recognize inequities to take shots at other P12 schools. I have had 20 years to keep my powder dry and I am unloading.Speaking of racism.......how many African-American coaches are there in the Pac 12 right now? One. Prime. This entire country needs to stop talking about what a travesty the lack of AA coaches is and start taking steps to actually do something about it. Don't talk the talk if you're not going to walk the walk.
Fair enough. The SEC's an easy target here, but let's forget about all the dipshits to the west of us as well.I don't need to recognize inequities to take shots at other P12 schools. I have had 20 years to keep my powder dry and I am unloading.
Brett Favre, is that you?One of the prospects that tweeted prime about coming (can't find it) - reading through his tweets, to paraphrase- Why everyone acting like Prime is stealing, it's not like he is stealing welfare money.

I have felt bad about that all these years. You can have your sega back if you want it.To be fair when I was a Sophomore we were living in one of the those places on the fringes off the Hill purely designed to be a college rental. 4 bedroom house but with no yard. It sat back in an alley and you had to walk up a sidewalk past a house in front of it to get there and somebody broke in and stole a bunch of our CDs, smaller electronics and games while we were all gone for Thanksgiving. Lost my Sega Genesis and a bunch of games, wouldn't be surprised if the same person hit that house every holiday season.
Don't forget cancer.Just wait until Coach Prime fixes the homeless problem in Boulder.

They are shipped here by surrounding communities, so between that and the reputation of being a homeless friendly town, it is really out of control. It is quite sad actually. Many of these people need help, but when you can't even walk down the creek path during the day out of concern for confrontation (or worse).....well, it is way past needing an alternative remedy. I digressI have talked about befriending the transient folks when I lived in downtown Loveland. Boulders has a reputation in that community with how well they treat them.

Jackson, MS does not have clean drinking water. Crime is rampant. The school in Boulder is well-kept and absolutely beautiful. Yet, we could not field a winning football team. This is a major source of Prime’s incredulity in the first meeting. People at our alma mater take these privileges for granted. He mentioned, "virtually no crime" twice.
