Texas State Game Week (Official Thread)

Get him work at OG and keep Sherman's redshirt in tact?

Do you play Pursell or give Huckins the extra work?
I don't think you can hide our 2 deep at guard. I don't know of any swiss army knife type backups. Has Kaiser taken any snaps at guard this camp? Outside of that issue, for next year I think if these young OL are physically ready to play (which they should be, being on the depth chart in year 5 and all), you play them. We replace three of five OL starters next year. Get the guys behind them some game experience.

Bobcat fan here. I will be making the trip this weekend. I have lots of friends and family in the Denver area so I was pretty excited when this game got set up. Unfortunately, we've gotten much worse since then and y'all have gotten much better. A little about our team. Fran was our coach until two years ago. He did okay but lost the team and went 3-9 his last year after going 7-5 the previous year. We then hired Coach Withers from James Madison. He is like a poor mans Charlie Strong in the sense that he is all about accountability and will kick you off the team or suspend you if you don't follow his rules. A lot of upper classmen felt alienated and quit the team. This team is very very young. Something like 5 seniors and 9 juniors on the two deep. Last year we went 2-10. I don't expect many more wins this year since the team is still most true and redshirt freshmen. We currently only have 76 players on scholarship due to players quitting and getting kicked off. I hope we at least score and maybe keep it semi respectable for a quarter or a half. Good luck Saturday and maybe we can set up another game in the future when we get back to full strength.

Our strength is probably our LBs. The defense started poorly against HBU but didn't give up any points after the first quarter. Not sure how much the offense will do but I think they can improve if the QB finds his accuracy and we get the TEs more involved.

Welcome, and thanks for the info.

Urban Dictionary submission for Texas State is choice.

"Are we vain? Shallow? **** yeah we are, and we have the absolute right to be."

"You think we're immature and don't want to grow up? Why? Because our parents pay for everything? You're right, it crazy of us to take advantage of the BMWs, boats, Range Rovers, shopping allowances and free trips to Miami and Vegas. Sorry our parents don't want us to work at McDonalds and live on loans. We're not immature, we're spoiled, gifted really, and **** yeah we're going to enjoy the ride. Maybe if you lost a few pounds and got a tan, we'd let you come along too."

"So anyone jealous, just step aside. Go cry how we're spoiled, shallow, and dumb as dirt. You're just upset because you were too pathetic to be invited to the party, it's not our fault we won the genetic lottery."

River Raft Race - the highlight of Texas State's party culture. (NSFW)

The school, in San Marcos, used to go by a different name I forget. The team was FCS and played in the Southland Conf with McNeese, Sam Houston, S.F. Austin, etc.

We've seen our 2-10 days too. Piece of advice from our past experience: if your coaches call a QB sneak on first and ten, you're in trouble.

Good luck on Saturday and enjoy your visit.

The school was called Southwest Texas State until the name changed in 2003. TXST became a full FBS team in 2012 in the WAC before moving to the SBC as the WAC folded football.

The traveling Texas State crew should have fun partying in Boulder.

Win or lose, you booze, baby!

I used to enjoy a WAC game every now and again, wide open play.

holy ****, javier edwards with some damning thoughts on CSU's OL: "some of the JUCO teams we played were better"
28 carries for 101 yards rushing (not counting Stevens' 4 for -13 yards) for an average of 3.6/carry. They also gave up 2 sacks and countless pressures. He may have a case.

plus, most of those yards came on 3 sweeps to get away from Javier. Man beast.

They also had some stat building runs later in the game when our defense was willing to give up some yards to keep the clock moving and not give up a big play downfield.

Speaking of Javier Man-Mountain Edwards, what was the nature of that personal foul he incurred in the second half? It wasn't clear from the TV replay.

Trying to confirm or deny he was flagged for a dick-punch.

Mountain Man Edwards is a good name for him cause he is one. I'm amazed how freaking big these guys are now.

Bobcat alum. here. Making trip from San Antonio mostly for the tailgating, brownies and mountains. Someone said "they have a nice campus so they have that going for them"... He nailed it. We're worse than I expected. I do like out coach and hope he's successful over the next few years. Our QB is nothing special. I expected more coming from the SEC and he appeared awfully slow in game one.

Anyways, if I need to move this thread I will. But, any recommendations on tailgating? Our Univeristy will have an alumni tent set up, but will more than likely be lame and I like tailgating amongst the locals. Also, any suggestions on places to go post game? Open to all suggestions.

Welcome!

A lot of your question probably get answered in the following thread: https://www.allbuffs.com/threads/cu-gameday-stadium-parking-tailgates-hotels-events-etc.118811/

Feel free to stop by the Allbuffs tailgate. You can also tailgate on campus if you pay for a spot on Regent & Broadway.

Post-game, I'd probably visit University Hill and Pearl Street. Lots of bars, restaurants and whatnot. Pearl Street will also have street performers and live music on a Saturday.

To our Texas State friends and visitors: there is tubing on Boulder Creek.

Not every fan base is let in on this little secret. You know what to do and you know how to do it.

I also highly recommend a pregame visit to Liquor Mart.

It's neighborly to offer some of Boulder's Helping Hands to visiting Texans living under oppressive laws.

Funnels, tubes, and duct tape can be acquired at McGuckin Hardware.

A few other Texas State specific resources that didn't make the link Nik provided
CU Fraternities
Boulder Rifle & Pistol Club
YP Bail Bonds listing
Boulder Community Hospital / Emergency Room
Rocky Mountain Rescue Group
