Why not Texas?
Has to be more. Bama, UGA, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Clemson, FSU, USC, Texas, OU, tOSU, Miami are all relatively similar with those three.
The best jobs according to me not in order:
Ohio State
Penn State
Oklahoma
Texas
Florida
Georgia
Alabama
Auburn
LSU
Texas A&M
USC
Clemson
Florida State (don't know what's going on there but it's still attractive imo)
I think that USC job is going to be more coveted because there are two NFL teams in LA now and the pressure might not be as great as it used to be. Helton has to win big next season or else.
Michigan, Miami & Norte Dame didn't make my list due to the academic folks getting in the way.

Actually, given the meddlesome boosters, it doesn’t seem like that great of a job to have. It is an awesome job to be the recipient of their lavish buyouts.
Their issues are internal, so I guess that would be the only issue. That probably won't last forever. Without those issues, its probably the best job in the nation.

Nope. Won’t change. Those ties are very deep and have been present longer than any 35 year old on this site.
There are most certainly deep rooted issues and not sure how you completely fix it. However, a good president and AD can hopefully mitigate that. Mac was able to do it, but he was probably a once in a lifetime type coach who worked so well with boosters.
Mac is a better politician than coach. He’s a good old boy that will politely laugh at a racist/sexist joke and somebody who can code switch and relate well to young people. That kind of coach is a very rare breed - too rare for college football. The boosters are immovable given how they basically install the AD because of their donations and willingness to pay for endless buyouts. The president is impotent there given the indepedence of the AD.
I have a strong dislike for them and agree that Notre Dame for multiple reasons is not a top 5 and probably not a top 10 job.
With that in mind don't dismiss the fact that there is a segment of the coaching world out there that grew up with the Notre Dame tradition pounded into their heads. If they came from strong Catholic families in a strong Catholic community they had Notre Dame pushed on them.
For this reason it isn't a surprise that some top coaches are willing to bypass or leave other (sometimes better) jobs for Notre Dame.

Looks like Tennessee is prepping to fire Jeremy Pruitt with cause, with all internal investigation. Phil Fulmer wants to keep him, the administration wants him gone.

Tom Herman to Tennessee?
Part of the reason Texas moved on from Herman is because of the down turn in recruiting the state of Texas. I am not sure if that was a Herman issue or more of an assistant coach issue.
