The 2021-2022 Coaching Carousel

Fake news.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Earlier Saturday night, SI Sooners inadvertently published a story reporting that Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning was being hired as the next head football coach at the University of Oklahoma. As of 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, Oklahoma has not named its new head coach. SI Sooners regrets the error.

Their 247 board says Swinney to OU (Venables would probably come with him) is more than "mere message board fabrication". Whatever that means. Might be a correlation between that and Clemson's AD looking like he's going to Miami.
As I said, the OU coaching search will be a hoot.

Cristobal to Miami.

If Cristobal leaves for Miami, it's an opportunity for the Pac-12 to get better.

Whether we like it or not, the Pac-12's path to national respect is for both USC and Oregon to be dominant. It needs to be that if anyone else represents the South or North in the P12CG it means that they had a truly special season and got over on a great program to get there (like when Alabama or Ohio State are not representing their division in the conference championship game).

I would say the conference also needs UCLA to be a 9-10 win team. If they are then the pac 12 dominates so cal and Phoenix recruiting.

Frankly, if the Pac-12 was performing where it should be we'd have UCLA and Washington as Top 20 programs with CU, Utah, ASU and Stanford less consistent but right there with them more often than not. Programs like UA, Cal, OSU and Wazzu tend to go on a nice run every so often but have also been bad a lot.

If we get conference finances in order and everyone gets serious about being what generations of fans have learned to expect, the Pac-12 is a damn fine football conference.

With that, I do think we need to expand into Texas to get to a Pac-14 for recruiting and media value purposes.

What’s funny? Riley is a top 5 HC and Venables has never been a HC.
Your take is funny. As usual. Venables has been one of the elite ACs in the sport for close to two decades. He's a defensive guy-and OU wasn't good on that side of the ball under Riley. If they get Lebby from Ole Miss to pair with him, they're going to be fine.
