Thoughts on next year

Scott Frost won’t make a NU contenders overnight. They’ll be better, but it takes time to not suck as much as they’ve sucked in the past.

It will take 2-3 years minimum to ha Fe the attitudes out there and get more talent.

The way NU has played the last few years, they dont know HOW to win yet. CU has a great chance.

Frost took a winless UCF team (2015) and turned them into a 6 win team playing in a bowl in year one, and has them undefeated in year two. He could easily turn Nebraska from a 4 win team into a 7-8 win team in a pedestrian Big 10 West in 2018.

We ain’t losing to Nebraska. As bad as we are, they’re much worse.
If it was in Boulder I would be more confident. Reily did bring in talent, even my Corn friends admit that, just that no one was “coached up.” They get the right coach, going against our OL and DL, I don’t see us stopping their running game, or providing pass rush to disrupt the passing game.

I WANT TO BE WRONG.

Yep and damnit.

Unpossible-Everyone knows it takes 5 years to turn a program around that wins 4 games to a bowl invite.

You are wrong!!!

There is absolutely no legitimate talent on this Nebraska team. JD Spielman, the slot WR is the only NFL quality player. The vaunted Nebraska Black(Pink) Shirts did not place a single player on any of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or even Honorable Mention All-Big 10(14) teams!!! The Offense will be potentially good, but they do not have the right QB to run it. On the other hand, their defense will still suck, remember they gave up over 50 points the last 3 games in a row. Our Offense has got to be better, with hungry receivers, a more experienced QB, and god help us a better Offensive Line!!! It will be high scoring, but we will win. My way to early prediction is Buffs 49 - Huskers 28.

I think we start next year by going 6-2 and finish 8-4.
This is almost hilarious. We can’t go a week after dismally concluding the season, with allegations of disinterested coaches and hostile coach-player relationships, and we’re getting predictions of 8-4 for next year? I suppose that’s one way to deal with 2017 and put it behind us. Unfortunately it doesn’t address the issues that led us to 5-7 this year. And doesn’t provide a replacement for PL. Not that we on AB can do anything about those deficits anyway. (Other than BL...Brian, I know you’re on here, what’s your handle?)

I suggest switching football off and moving on to Buff basketball. Return to football when BB concludes, or perhaps somewhat sooner if Tad & co. wilt under P12 competition...

Condescending attack duly noted. But I’ll stick to football. Thanks for the advice.

Nothing wrong with post season koolaid. I'm just looking forward to hearing how awesome certain position groups will be from CU media during closed summer/spring practices, how we just need to work on the little things, how we will have the best practices of all time, stuff like that

How the mighty have fallen, when you think about it. I'll be watching my Buffs with great interest but a 2018 CU/NE game is like a boxing match between Napoleon Dynamite and Pee Wee Herman compared to those of years gone by.
only thing is, nubs still have a roster full of 4 and 5 star guys

We'll do about the same maybe mildy better, even with Frost. We have a brutal schedule next year and a very very bad talent problem right now. I'll be at the game but unless they completely surprise me I'm going in bracing for the worst.

Oh. And hi.
You guys did draw a brutal schedule. Michigan, Michigan St, and Ohio St from the East. Wisconsin, Northwester, Iowa, on the road. And watch out for Troy. Please tell me you followed LSU and made Troy your homecoming game. Pretty please.

We upgrade at WR, Fields disappeared this year, and Ento (my favorite) can replace Bobo (my former favorite). Lindsey leaving hurts because I have no idea who will be our running back. Hopefully one of these Freshman will be good. New O-line coach and I’ll “believe.” The game is won by the front 5, as they go, the team goes. Plus, our road woes have never really been solved.

Defense will improve regardless just from experience. We don’t lose much from this years senior class from what I’ve seen, at least not the devestation we saw when the 2016 class departed. We beat the Corn in Lincoln, we go 8-4; enough would have clicked to get us back on the right track.

Only happens with:
1) Coaching changes
2) A solid RB emerging to take Lindsey’s place

Question for any Nebraska fan... Is this a total REBUILD, or a mild REBOOT, or even just a here comes our guy and we can WIN NOW??? Meaning is it just a little more effort and a few guys, or, the reality that there is no toughness, not even close to the level of talent that anyone thinks there is (Literally void of any potential NFL talent), and a need to recruit like hell and rebuild every aspect of the team?

I think Frost is coming as a favor to his alma mater. Bad Roster, Difficult Recruiting Area, Horrible Defense, Too high of Expectations. The press conference likely on Monday needs to start by saying to everyone in Nebraska that this is a TOTAL REBUILD and there needs to be patience for at least 3-4 years!

Mostly a total rebuild. Riley was trying that garbage pro style attack with poor line play and turnover heavy QB who will most likely not be starting next year as Frost runs that crazy speed attack he did at UCF and Oregon and for that we need a dual threat QB (WHICH I LOVE). The pro style is great when you have a top 10 recruiting rank with outstanding line guys but it just isn't going to work at Neb. The "difficult recruiting area" is too often paroted but it does have some foundation in truth but people act like we are the only ones in a geographically **** area. There are plenty of schools that sit in bum ****s ville and compete very well year to year (Oklahoma, Ohio State etc.). If we get them on campus and they see facilities and fan base it's basically the same and I like to think we're in the Top 5 in those two categories. I'm down for the long haul with Frost. Riley was a **** hire and I said it from the beginning. The last two ADs have injected cancer into Lincoln and I finally love both the AD and the HC. I'm very happy at the end of the worst Husker season in my lifetime so that's worth something I guess. Can't wait to play you ****ers next year!

Good to know that Husker fans are downing the kool-aid once again.

I will definitely be keeping tabs on the Huskers more often due to that offense. I don't think I'm the only CU fan on this board that thinks that Frost is a good hire along with AD Bill Moos. If I was a Husker fan, I'd be real happy too.

Any good athletic QBs that the Huskers have on the team right now or will that have to be addressed via recruiting?

No dual threats on roster but Frost has already offered a couple 4*'s whore are showing interest so I guess we'll see.

Ohio State? Ohio has about 9 million people and huge HS programs. And it recruits very well nationally, too.

So one of those recruits could be starting against CU unless a JUCO QB comes in?

Ohio is a MASSIVE football state, Rodney Stewart was a 2* with no offers out of Ohio. Same with Penn and Louisiana. LSU closes the borders and stocks the roster with talent.

The recruiting problems I have heard with the Corn is that they pulled out of Texas by leaving the Big 12. Texas, Florida, and California are the top 3 states for high school prospects. Recruiting against Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and the FCS schools for Ohio talent is the uphill battle. Now, winning cures most ills (namely recruiting); Frost probably has a temporary pipeline to Florida from his days at UCF. We shall see.

Frost will need a QB for sure. His system however is conducive to a true frosh being capable.

Their D is a bigger question. Diaco converted them to a 3-4 which Frost's DC also runs. I doubt the new DCs is going to get instantly better results. He had a lot of raw talent at UCF to work with.

I believe Nik pointed out that the UCF meltdown the year before Frost arrived is not indicative of their talent. That was a one year mess.

Going to be so much fun to watch the fuskers fans when they are continually 3rd or 4th in their division and can't blame Frost for being an outsider. Also going to be fun watching them as they know that they owe him way to much money to just add him to the list of fired coaches and start fresh again.
