Travis Hunter Appreciation Thread (Awards: HE12MAN, Walter Camp, Biletnikoff, Bednarik, Lott, Paul Hornung, AP PotY)

How was Travis only on 93% of the ballots, the other 7% should have their voting privileges revoked - maybe I missed something
It's the Tom Osborne effect when he didn't vote for the Buffs because he didn't want to recruit against a NC winner in the Coach's poll. The combination of those who hate Prime and those who thought that if Travis got zero votes from them they might be able to slip Jeanty in.

Understand that many of those people are the same ones who think that Boise going 11-1 in the MWC means they are as good as a team that goes 11-1 in the P4 conferences.

Rare for a player on a 9-3 team to win the Heisman. What is weird to me is that Travis had the most first place votes by a pretty wide margin but the final total was really close. That leads me to believe there were a significant number that either didn’t vote for him at all or down voted him to, like, 4th.

I don’t know either. Just what Travis said, that he wanted to be there but could not. It was just the raw emotion of a son taking to his father. Awesome
So where was Hunter’s father, Travis Hunter Sr.?

The Palm Beach Post’s Tom D’Angelo wrote a story about Hunter’s background that was published on Dec. 6. In that story, Travis Hunter Sr. is quoted as saying he was choosing not to attend the ceremony.

“I don’t want to go,” he said. “I want to be there when he gets married and when he gets drafted. I’m going to watch this from home.”

Hunter Sr. was sentenced to 90 days in jail for a 2023 arrest. He began serving his time at Palm Beach County West Detention Center in September and was released three weeks early, according to the story.

I don’t think that’s the case. Both he and Jeanty had 800+ 1st/2nd votes and similar 3rd place votes. There was just a big drop off after those two.

Hunter had more voters than Daniels last year (also a 9-3 team).

that was a really great acceptance speech and his mom was great. fowler was awesome.

I don't wonder at all about the 7% of ballots. that is the anti-Prime effect, right there. 12 was all world for the last 2 seasons and he will be a legend forever. he earned alll of this.

congratulations to a great young player and this is the stuff we all still love about college ball, despite everything going on.

Go Buffs.
The missing vote % was nearly identical as Jeanty. Pro Jeanty voters left off Travis entirely. A good % of Pro Travis voters had Jeanty 2-3. Dirty work
