Travis Hunter Appreciation Thread (Awards: HE12MAN, Walter Camp, Biletnikoff, Bednarik, Lott, Paul Hornung, AP PotY)

I never post here anymore because I'm lazy but have to give love to Travis. I've had him as my icon since he committed because I couldn't believe I'd get to see a player like him in a Colorado Jersey. And then from the first game, it felt even more surreal. I've grown up on almost nothing but bad Buff football, I have vague memories of Chris Brown and a few players we could appreciate in the down years. But Travis was like 10 year old me's NCAA Football created player with 99 everything I would make to see what a good CU looked like was inserted into real life after the most hopeless season of football imaginable. He was a privilege to watch, to get to see grow and come to love CU and Colorado and the fans and to end up on that stage at the end of it all. Never been so glad to see someone get something they deserve so much.

Rare for a player on a 9-3 team to win the Heisman. What is weird to me is that Travis had the most first place votes by a pretty wide margin but the final total was really close. That leads me to believe there were a significant number that either didn’t vote for him at all or down voted him to, like, 4th.
They have to vote for and only can vote for 3 players, 1, 2 & 3.

He was on 93% of ballots in one of those places.

It's the way they weight the 2nd and 3rd place votes that makes it look closer imo since Travis had like 150 more 1st place votes. Like 550 to 300 ish.

I'm so happy that I can't even be that mad that Hunter's margin of victory in terms of votes was the smallest since 2009.

Hunter: 552 1st place, 2,231 total points
Jeanty: 309 1st place, 2,017 total points.

Ok I'm a bit salty, dude put up the football equivalent of a Shohei season and somehow it was still a close vote with a running back from the ****ing mountain west conference (can you imagine what Travis would've done to MWC competition all season?). I'll admit that Jeanty is awesome but his season doesn't even come close to what Travis did. Melvin Gordon put up a better season than Jeanty back in 2014 against far superior competition and didn't win the Heisman.

Definitely shows how the CFB world still is a bit biased against our program and how we do things.
I refuse to engage people in that. I tell them that Jeanty had a great season and would have been a worthy winner. But Travis won and he is also worthy. The vast majority of people who are upset, just don’t like Prime. And if they can’t see how intellectually dishonest it is to say that Jeanty was somehow robbed of this award, then **** em.

Oh man. I just realized Dan lanning was there and got to watch Travis win and then thank Prime.

And knowing the whole time his guy had no chance. He just had to sit there and bear it. For the clicks.

Not a bad revenge appetizer

The only negative thing I'm going to point out and then I'm going to forget about anything less than positive about this - announcing that Jeanty had won the fan vote while the camera was squarely on Travis's face was bunk. Announcing it period was pretty lame, but at least don't zoom in on the face of the dude who won it while you announce that a bunch of people disagreed.

BTW though - that was the result of the totally useless ESPN poll, it wasn't even the result of the Heisman House poll, you know the one that actually counted as one ballot - Travis won that one.

I keep a file in my head in the history section of all the great players I've got to watch live. I also update when awards and milestones are achieved by players.

What a privilege to get to watch HIM. So many plays to sort out. Just incredible

One of the absolute greatest moments in CU football history! Travis Hunter is a spectacular talent, and one of the greatest players in college football history. He gave a speech straight from his heart, and the comments about his dad were touching.

No one could have honestly believed it would be possible to go from having the worst team in the nation 2 years ago to having a Heisman Trophy winner and winning 9 games. Thank you Coach Prime!

One more thing - Travis ended the Heisman ceremony with "'Sko Buffs, baaaaby" as he imitates wearing the Buffalo horns. I will never forget it, and it will become a recruiting tool for years to come.
